Extravagant public displays of affection! :)

The Call DC 08

The Call DC 08

Good morning friends!

As you know, I’m reading through the Bible in 66 days. Started 10 days ago and I’m on page 268 of my Bible. Good news! After calculating out the numbers, I realized that I’m on pace for hitting the finish line on day 36! It’s always fun to demolish a personal goal!

This morning I read the book of 2Samuel… its crammed with amazing content from beginning to end! There’s something in chapter six I want to bless you guys with today!

As some of you know, the Ark of the covenenant was stolen by the Philistines during the evil priesthood of Eli and his two wicked sons. For Israel, this Ark represented Gods presence… so it was a huge deal for them. For more than twenty years, this Ark was passed around from place to place, resting in some Priests back yard for the majority of this time.

Once David became King, he went and got the Ark and brought into Jerusalem making it the centerpiece of their country once again! David valued Gods presence and knew that Israel would not do well during his reign if God was not in the very heart of their land! So he built a special tabernacle for the Ark and posted worshipers to praise God 24 hours a day throughout his reign! No wonder Israel remained invincible during this time!

As soon as the Ark of the Covenant made it into Jerusalem, David did something uncommon for Kings back in that era. He showed God an extravagant public display of affection! David got so caught up in the awe of this glorious moment that he danced like a crazy person until some of his clothes fell off.

Davids wife wasn’t happy with him and claimed that he dishonored his throne by acting so foolishly. She went so far as to suggesting that people would no longer “respect” King David because of these undignified actions.

Davids response to his wife is so classic… “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me… he appointed me as the leader of Israel… so I am willing to ACT LIKE A FOOL in order to show my JOY in the Lord. Yes, I am willing to LOOK EVEN MORE FOOLISH THAN THIS…”

So many people these days seem to want to HIDE their affections for God. They will tell you that your worship is a “private thing.” King David disagreed… and so should we! Let’s celebrate like crazy people all day long today… with our very own EXTRAVAGANT PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF AFFECTION towards God. He has given us so much, so let’s not be quiet about it! Maybe, when we start making God the centerpiece of our world, we will start winning battles like the glorious King David did!

Have another perfect day on your way to a perfect week!

Wake Up… It’s WILD Wednesday!! Oh Yeah!!

Good morning all my blog fellows and fellowetts…

Take a look at this fun photoI snapped with my iphone yesterday and tell me what it is. Tell me what you like and dislike about the photo. And tell me where you see yourself in the photo. Be creative and let your imagination run wild.

Today is WILD Wednesday… some people refer to this as “hump day.” It’s the middle of the work week, and once you get through today, the rest of the week is “downhill” from here right? Wait a minute… that doesn’t sound like much fun to me. Remember, we’re going for a PERFECT week! So how are you doing so far? No, don’t tell me you’re becoming stressed, bored, confused, or exhausted already. We still have three days to a TGIF!

Wednesday is many times, the day when everything starts to fall apart. It’s the day that most people start winding down their creative energies… and they fall into a rut that drags them very slowly to the Friday finish!

Not this week! Today is WILD WEDNESDAY! Its the midweek refreshing! Try the following 4 suggestions to make this one of your best wednesdays in a long time:

1. do my creative photo exercise to jump start your creative powers! Get out of that rut NOW!

2. go back through the list I gave you guys for magnificent Monday! http://chuckslife.wordpress.com/2008/11/17/our-first-full-week-together/

3. spend 15-30 minutes dreaming and doodling about your future today… and take off those limits! Dream as if ANYTHING is possible!

4. do something kind for another person today… something extravagantly kind! This always helps to get your blood moving in a positive direction!

4. go to an ENERGETIC church somewhere tonight… or watch ours LIVE (7pm) @ www.destinyfamilycenter.com

That’s it… a simple random list of Wednesday enhancing activities. Have fun… laugh out loud as often as possible… and go to bed with a great big smile on your face!

Prayer Reveals the Heart

Angel Praying on Snowy Ground

Our Angel Praying on Snowy Ground

Good snowy morning blog people… :)

Ok, so it’s not really a snowy morning… just a light dusting. I’m just doing with this ”light dusting” what Jesus did with the 5 loaves of bread and the 2 fishes. He lifted up the little bit that he HAD and he gave thanks… and miraculously, the little bit was MULTIPLIED a thousand times! So, I’m dancing over this dusting… confident that we will have a SNOWY WINTER!!! Woooot wooot… bring it on!

Last night, I listened to my kids while they prayed and realized something pretty significant. We can locate our HEART by listening to our prayers! I fell asleep with a great big smile on my face as I faded with the thoughts of my kids prayers! They prayed with such humility… asking God to heal hurting people we know, asking God to forgive their sins and help them to do right, asking God to wake them up today ALIVE, AWAKE, and FULL OF ENERGY… and a bunch of other great things. It was so much FUN!

I realized in those prayers… that I was being granted access into the center of their hearts… and it almost made me cry. (in a mans man kind of way of course) I realized that even though they can be very challenging as teenagers sometimes… that their LOVE for God is still strong

So, pay attention to your own prayers… and always keep a pulse on your own heart.

Before I go today, I want to ask you guys to pray for a young lady we know in Missouri. Her name is Jeniffer… and her and her husband we in a very bad car accident about 4 weeks ago… leaving them in very bad shape. Jennifer was thrown into labor and gave birth to her baby prematurely (all seems to be well with the baby). Her husband David has been hospitalized since the accident, taking quite a bit of time to recover from injuries. And the doctors are not optimistic about Jennifer’s recovery. Last week, she died and they resuscitated her… and today she remains unresponsive. I cannot imagine the thought of raising my children while my wife remains unresponsive for the rest of her life. My compassion reaches out to David and Jennifer Dierking in ways that I cannot put into words… thanks for praying with me that this family will see a miracle! We can make a difference… because history belongs to the intercessors! You can visit Jeniffers blog @  http://jennifersmiracle.blogspot.com/

Love you guys… have a Terrific Tuesday!! Still on your way to a perfect week!!

Our First Full Week Together!

It’s Magnificent Monday my blog buddies…

The second day of your perfect week! Yeah, actually Sunday is the first day of our weekly calendar even though Monday is the first day of the work week. So, you’re already one day down… how did it go? How was your SUNDAY? Mine was AMAZING! As you know, I always spend the first day of every week hanging out with God at church. While some people will tell you that church is absolute boredom… I have not known a boring Sunday in 18 years! Fortunately, I hang with the funnest church goers on earth! My church friends are happy, funny, loving, energetic, creative, compassionate, giving and a bunch of other good things! Yesterday was one of the BEST Sundays ever! If you weren’t there, check out the video @ www.destinyfamilycenter.com

Notice that I’m annoucning a “perfect week” for us, you guys! Why not? If we believe for a perfect week, then at least the possibility exists… and with this vision, we’re half way there! Of course, if you screwed it up by failing to dedicate the FIRST day to God, it may be a little difficult this week… but hey, there’s always next week for you. :)

For me… I bounced out of bed this morning at 4AM ready for one of the best weeks of my LIFE! Was it some new super vitamin? Nope. Am I drugged? I don’t think so. Actually, I’m just riding HIGH on the blessings I picked up on my Super Sunday… and Super Sundays make for Magnificent Mondays! You see, while so many of my fellow Americans are waking up this morning with an unstable operating system, mine is REFRESHED! Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for this “windows” laptop I’m using to type today’s blog. It’s running slow and really needs to be healed… and I didn’t feel like taking the time to reboot. At some point, we all know that this thing will crash if I don’t take 15 minutes to REFRESH it. And humans are just like computers… we need to be refreshed periodically for optimum performance!

Ok… so if you didn’t refresh yesterday, take an hour sometime today and do the following:

1. thank God for all the good things you experienced last week. Reflect with the correct perspective and memorialize your victories instead of your defeats.

2. confess last weeks sins and humbly ask for Gods forgiveness.

3. spend some quality time reading from your Bible… and notice how good you will feel almost right away.

4. pray about your day and week, dedicating it to God for his purposes.

5. dream about the hundreds of possibilities that are already well within your reach. Take off the limits and dream bigger than usual.

6. advance God thanks for your first PERFECT week in a very long time!

There you have it… a simple little formula for a PERFECT WEEK! I’m praying for you guys… and thanking God for each of you! Thanks for reading, thanks for telling your friends about chucklife, and thanks for commenting! Happy day!

Marathon Journal & Message

 Bike on Blocks

Bike on Blocks

Emily @ Mile 2

Emily @ Mile 2

Good morning my blog family of 5… We’re still growing!

Yesterday was a blast! Some really good quality time with Emily… don’t want to bore you guys… here’s a few highlights from the day.

1. Bike on Blocks:(check out this hilarious photo) Ok, so on our way to the starting line, we passed by this bike chained to a post just outside an apartment building. Some unlucky guy or gal parked their mode of transportation for the night, never suspecting that some creep would strip their wheels!

This reminded me of when I was a kid living in New York… it was a common thing to see a car up on blocks. In some areas of the city, we would even joke about getting stuck at a traffic light too long and having your car put up on blocks while you were behind the wheel! Even though I feel horrible for this poor fellow, I couldn’t stop myself from laughing OUT LOUD! (I did pray for things to work out)

2. The course was beautiful… and so was Emily! Check out the photos… my girl ran like the wind! Way to go EMILY!! Woooooohooooooooo! Wooot wooot… Oh yeah oh yeah!

The Message… I realized something about the two of us yesterday… I’m a crazy competitor and I run to BEAT PEOPLE… and Emily runs for the sheer pleasure of running! While I kept recalculating our pace about ever 30 seconds… Emily was thanking EVERY FAN for being there (even the dogs), she made friends with EVERY runner that said hello, she noticed EVERY beautiful landmark along the way, she even tried to stop SEVERAL times to talk a few runners into not quiting! I embarrassingly admit that I didn’t see a single landmark and I didn’t want to stop to talk anyone into continuing… I just kept a perfect tally of the people that we were PASSING!

This is the way we are in life as well… thats why we’re so perfect for each other! I make sure we’re driving towards a bunch of meaningful finish lines, while she makes sure we have fun along the way! Its a perfect mixture!! So, my prayer for my growing blog family today is that every one of you would find a few friends to compliment your strengths and weaknesses! We all have a few things about us that are really dangerous until they are MIXED with the other extreme… then we are balanced out and we do life the best it can be done!

Have a super Sunday… and if you’re not doing anything, come to Destiny Family Center. If you cant make it in person, tune in online @ www.destinyfamilycenter.com
