Living Right is a Human Privilege

Good Monday Morning Friends,

I just finished reading the book of Job a few minutes ago and saw something you guys might benefit from. It’s about the effects of sin and righteousness

If you’re anything like most people, you feel like living righteously is primarily for Gods satisfaction, it’s your spiritual duty to Him. And you want to make him happy, so you live right. On the other side of this thought, most of us also feel that living wrong is primarily a transgression against GodSo we try not to sin because we don’t want to ruin Gods day, and we dont want him mad at us.

Check out what one of Job’s friends said to him about the effects of sin and righteousness: (Job 35:6-8 NLT)

”If you sin, how does that affect God?
Even if you sin again and again,
what effect will it have on him?
If you are good, is this some great gift to him?
What could you possibly give him?
No, your sins affect only people like yourself,
and your good deeds also affect only humans.” (WOW)

So then, living right is a human privilege. Yet, most humans feel that to “walk the straight and narrow” is doing God a big favor, at the expense of our reduced quality of life. When you listen to some people pray, they say things like, “Oh God, I have given up soooo much to serve you.” But have we really GIVEN UP so much? If you think about it, most of us have only given up the very things we wanted to be free from anyway. We are the ones who benefit from righteousness. Our lives go so much better… we become better people… far more useful to our society… far happier!

Having lived 19 years in sin and 18 years in righteousness… I can experientially announce that righteousness if a GIFT from God… and the quality of life that comes with right living goes far beyond words!

Isaiah 5:20 says this: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” Doesn’t it seem like this is the norm of our day… most of our society calling good evil and evil good? Let’s not get confused… LIVING RIGHT IS A HUMAN PRIVILEGE… the blessing is all ours!

  1. I finished my study on Psalm 128 last night and it really awakened my heart to living for Jesus because He died for me. Yes, I will receive blessings, but it is not because of the blessings that I live for Him. We enjoy a better life when we walk the straight and narrow path led by Christ. It is amazing. If it were not for the Holy Spirit, I would not be able to follow that path.
