Good Monday Friends!

Did you watch the Superbowl? Amazing game… amazing! Just like the movie, “Marley and Me”, it had a very sad ending! I mean it was a real tear jerker for some of us! The game was back and forth, as good as it gets, all night long! Just about the time it seemed as if Arizona had won their first Superbowl, Pittsburg drove the ball all the way up the field to the goal line one last time for the win. Some wonder if that last Pittsburg drive was President Obama’s doing. I’m just kidding everyone… hold your horses!

Oh well, at least my buddy Dwight went to bed with a great big smile last night… oh, and Dwight- thanks for calling to check on me! Not! Oh of course, Mr. Chucky left you a very kind and humble concession speech! Don’t worry about me though, Dwighty… it’s only football… and the Cardinals are not even my team… so I chose to focus on my salvation this morning, and I am thankful for my relationship with God, my super family, my great church, my almost completed book, and my profound future! Besides… football addiction is idolatry anyway! (little chucky says, wiping the tears from his eyes) LOL

Ok… moving on to FAR more important things today… I want to give you guys a deep spiritual thought this morning. It’s found in Psalm 27:8

KJV: “When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.”

NLT: “My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”

When I read this a few months ago, I wrote these two thoughts in my Bible:

1. I want to hear God CALLING ME to talk to him everyday! I desire so much to be awakened… stirred… provoked… many times a day!

2. I want to respond to this calling more often than I have in the past. I desire to seek passionately after God every day of my life… never ignoring any of his loving calls to me!

So, here’s what we should do today… first we should LISTEN more than we usually listen. We should block out 30 minutes of ALONE time, turn on some good music, lie down on the couch, and listen. Maybe God is calling to us right now and we can’t hear because our LIFE is TURNED UP TOO LOUD. Maybe, if we LISTEN very closely… if we TUNE OUR EARS to the sound of his voice… maybe we will hear God saying something very important to us! Maybe he’s always saying something. Who knows what? I just have a very good feeling about this you guys! From experience, God loves his conversations with us.  

According to this verse, HE is the one who INITIATES conversation with us! He always takes the first step… he swallows his pride and he dials us up every day no matter how many times we’ve ignored him. The only thing we have to do is START RESPONDING to these calls. Just drop whatever we’re doing, walk away from the noisy crowds… and take the next call from our Father. 

Dear God… my HEART has most definitely HEARD you say, “Come and talk with me.” So many times, I have felt you tapping me on the shoulder… doing all kinds of crazy things to get my attention. And this year I want to respond to you so much more than I have in the past. Today, this morning… right now! MY HEART RESPONDS, “Thy face oh Lord… I will SEEK!”
