When I got out of engineering school, my brain was so fried that all I did for a year was veg out in front of the TV after work. You can ask my wife, it's true. Since then, I got back into reading and now I'm an info junkie. I download multiple podcasts each day to listen to as I drive, and my bookshelves are overflowing with relationship books. I also love the Olive Tree software for the iPhone with the multiple versions of the Bible. I've come a long way from those brain dead days and now consider it fun to learn.

Hey there Pastor Chuck,

Man the coke factory.......I just told Randy. Coke is his perferred product of drink. I guess one day we will have to check it out. Randy would enjoy it.

Learning is so important. Thanks for sharing your struggle as a younger student and high school student. Your story is going to help teens who struggle with the boringness ( I know this is not a word) of reading. I try to select interesting yet meaningful books to my students as read a louds to get them hooked on reading. I have several students who read the Bible at home and will share with me what they are reading.

I would love to find non fiction kids leadership books to help my students become true leaders.

My love of learning did flourish until high school and then I got burnt out and now I can't get enough. I love to read, read, and read. I love to listen to people teach. I enjoy learning new things.

Have a great day.

Good Morning Pastor Chuck!!!!

I am soooo excited for you and blessed that you are being blessed by this confrence.
I know what you mean about learning. When I was in High School, I hated it. I definately Knew that I Knew more without allowing myself to open up and learn something that I didn't know! After High School, I started to feel like I didn't know much at all, and actually wanted to learn. My life at that time had become increased with 3 small children and a husband. When everythign in my life turned upside down, I was faced with a life-changing decision. I had to return to school. My return to school was as much a necessity as it was a dream. I went to Nursing School and for the first time in my life, I felt em-powered! I LOVED learning! I made awesome grades, something which I had never experienced doing. It felt great!!!
Before college, I never read a book if I didn't have to, it was more of a chore than an enjoyment, now I read several books at a time! I LOVE to read!!!
I suppose the message is clear, when we open ourselves up and soak in the knowledge that is available to us, we become more empowered and can't get enough. After all, knowledge is power! And God Almighty gives us the ability to learn, he created our minds with a capacity to learn1 WOW !!!!!
Now, as you know I am returning to school to take on the largest learning task of my life! You are NEVER too old to start learning more, and your NEVER too old to chase a dream! Thank you for your words of encouragement this morning, your message goes hand in hand with my current goals.
I hope that someone else out there who reads your blog will have something spark deep inside themselves and start learning something they have always wanted to learn. My message to them is, GO FOR IT!!!! If God can be for you, then who can be against you? Praise the Lord!!!
God Bless Everyone, and may you and Emily have an OUTSTANDING time at your confrence!
