Happy Tuesday Good People!

I woke up today thinking about my love for God… feeling so blessed to love him this much after loving him for more than 18 years! I know how very bizarre this must sound to so many humans, because this modern society commands us to keep it cool. 

We are ALLOWED to go to church if we really feel the need… but not more than once every week or two. We are ALLOWED to pray if we feel some kind of personal value in praying… but never more than a few minutes a day. It’s acceptable for us to read our Bibles if we feel like it helps us to better cope with life… but if we should quote a verse throughout the day as if we’re taking the Bible too seriously, we are deemed the freaks of our social network.

Why are we so passionate in nearly every human endeavor and yet so reserved with our worship of God? Why do we shun the extravagant worshipers among us? This generation seems to desire an existence that meets some kind of minimum spiritual standard… whatever it takes to secure our place in eternity… and nothing more! 

The one who made everything wants to be our friend! He loves it when we talk to him and he LOVES it when we listen to him! He’s always cheering for us… he is our biggest fan! And in a cruel and merciless world… we are out of our minds for staying so far away from him!

I read a t-shirt the other day that said something like, “The more I interact with humans, the more I love my dog!” For me, the older I get, the more I CHERISH MY PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD! I long to worship him every time I can get alone… even if it is just for a few minutes… I run to my iphone, turn on some amazing worship music, drop to my knees… and I commune with my best friend!

Does this blog sound not so believable? Am I out of my mind for this bizarre desire to live in unbroken communion with GOD? How about you guys? How’s your prayer life these days? Need to REKINDLE LOVE? Listen, I’m not talking about some kind of lifeless prayer routine… I’m not commanding you to suffer through a 30 minute prayer list in a silent dark room. I’m talking about COMMUNING with GOD!

If you should ever break through routine just one time… if you should ever step into that SECRET PLACE just one time, face to face with your maker… you will spend the rest of your life longing to be with HIM… every morning… every time you can sneak away to be alone with HIM! And even though the rest of the world will laugh as you go by… you will be known in HEAVEN as the FRIEND OF GOD!

To achieve this experience, I highly recommend getting some really good worship music… turn it on in a quite room… wrap yourself in a blanket… get on your knees and talk to God about anything and everything that comes to your mind! If that doesn’t work… stand up and walk around… pray out loud… open your bible, read a few psalms of praise out loud and then expand upon them. Be creative, start a journal, chronicle your experiences, and live happily ever after!
