Happy Wednesday Bloggies!

Im looking forward to church at Destiny Family Center tonight… hope you can make it! Worship has been amazing, preaching has been adequate (lol)… the fellowship has been sweetness all the way. We are currently accepting prospective family members… so drive out on this lovely forecasted evening and size us up! No worries, you’ll still make it home for most of American Idol… and a great nights sleep! 

Mark 1:29-31 (Message Bible) “Directly on leaving the meeting place, they came to Simon and Andrew’s house, accompanied by James and John. Simon’s mother-in-law was sick in bed, burning up with fever. They told Jesus. He went to her, took her hand, and raised her up. No sooner had the fever left than SHE WAS UP FIXING DINNER FOR THEM.”

Yup, I’m still enjoying the book of Mark every day… reading certain chapters over and over and over again. It’s nice to water ski across the SURFACE of the Bible… and then at other times, we can enjoy great pleasure in plunging into the depths of the wonders of God’s living Word! Love your Bibles friends… “Dear friends, listen well to my words; tune your ears to my voice. Keep my message in plain view at all times. Concentrate! Learn it by heart! Those who discover these words live, really live; body and soul, they’re bursting with health.” –Proverbs 4:20-22 

This short story in Mark I posted above… it contains such a message about the kind of role model Peters mother-in-law must have been. She was very sick, laying in bed with a high fever that threatened her life. Along came Jesus just like he always did and still does today. He reached down, took her by the hand and raised her up absolutely HEALED!

For me, the real emphasis of this miraculous scenario is found in the way Peters mother-in-law responded to the experience. Instead of using her recent illness as an excuse to be lazy for a few days… and instead of basking in the obvious compassion her family must have had for her… this amazing woman immediately turned the spotlight from herself when she GOT UP and STARTED FIXING DINNER FOR Jesus and his entourage!
