Happy Friday Friends!
I was on the phone with my dear friend Hugh Henderson a few days ago and he said something that really grabbed me. I was talking about how we are all supposed to live as servants of God… meaning that as His servants, we do whatever HE desires for our lives… no matter what that may mean.
During that conversation, Hugh said, “Chuck, I feel that as God’s servants, we are responsible to him for all the gifts he has given us.” He continued… “And God has given us natural AND spiritual gifts.”
Hugh told me about his burden for all the sick people in his circle… and how that he was starting to feel RESPONSIBLE for their well being! Not as an option… but as a necessity!
Do you catch what Hugh Henderson is saying here? As servants of God, we are responsible to HIM for EVERY ability he has given to us! If we were all doctors and we drove up on the scene of an accident, we would have a moral responsibility to stop and HELP, wouldn’t we?
Just the same, we have the AUTHORITY OF THE BELIEVER that empowers each of us with all kinds of divine abilities, giving us the moral responsibility to use our gifts whenever God calls upon us to STOP AND HELP.
Matthew 28:18-20 “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Mark 16:15-18 “He said to them, “GO INTO ALL THE WORLD and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
Let’s think about this today… and may we all become far more responsible TO GOD with all the natural and spiritual gifts he has lavished on us FOR HIS ETERNAL PURPOSES! As God’s servants, may we go where he sends us and do what he asks of us… with great joy and a willing attitude! Then we will have the peace of knowing that we are his GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANTS!
Have a super day everyone… make plans to visit DESTINY FAMILY CENTER this Sunday morning at 10am! Hope to see you there!
Chuck
