Good Sunday Everyone!
Yesterday, I went to a little kids birthday party… he’s the son of a friend. I had so much fun at the party, mostly after everyone else left and we had water gun fights for about 45 minutes. Emily and I had given the birthday boy a SUPER water gun… it was pretty massive.
The birthday boys brother is only like 20 months older… and he and I filled the SUPER water gun with some liquid ammo… and then I showed him how to use it. It was so big for him that we had to place the tank on his tiny shoulder and he had to use both hands to work it.
Once he got the hang of it… he did quite impressive… hitting several targets! Everyone was laughing and running around the park… he even pulled a few most impressive sneak attacks. For me, watching this little toddler running around without a care in the world… it was so therapeutic!
All the kids at the party were having a blast. They were all pals, happy to be living in their own little world. It was really something to see them talking to each other, decorated in their colorful little birthday hats, scarfing down their cake and ice cream… good times!
Matthew 19:13-15 One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could lay his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him. But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left.
I guess my simple thought this morning is that children are real people… and they matter so much to God, so they should matter so much to us! One of my favorite things in life is when a kid from church runs up and hands me their craft from Kidz Krib… as they approach me with their care free smiles… they say, “Hey Pastor Chuck!” And I LOVE IT! I think they look up to me… and I feel like I can have so much influence in their beautiful little lives!
Sadly, there are too many people in todays society who never even notice the little ones at their knees. Jesus gave children center stage… he made them feel like champions. Jesus placed his healing hands on their precious little heads and BLESSED the little ones that crossed his path! We should do the very same. We should raise a generation of champions by loving them like no generation of kids has ever been loved.
Have super day you guys… look around today… say hello to a little kid… pat them on their little heads… let them know how amazing they are to you… impart a blessing of love and grace! This pleases your Father in Heaven!
See you guys at Destiny Family Center… 10am! Chat with you later… God bless you all!
