Service With A Smile Please =)

Happy Thursday Good People!

I have to tell you how impressed I was with our worship team last night! Since we are forming a whole new team and some of our key players are out of town this week… the challenges are pretty big. That, combined with my CRAZY schedule for the past THREE MONTHS made the challenge of last nights worship OFF THE CHARTS.

You see… since we had a visiting worship team covering Sunday, and my mind is slightly overworked with the task of revitalization, I forgot to let our guys know that they were covering Wednesday nights. This is an embarrassing confession… a real admittance of poor leadership, I know. (looking down at the floor)

So I called Ryan ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON and asked if he and Danae, and Josh and Brittany, and Robby, and Greg could pull off a worship set for the next night! What I was impressed about is this: There was not ONE complaint form any of these guys and gals. Just a willingness to lay their lives and their talents at the feet of this ministry, at a moments notice… and give their best for the glory of God!

Humble service without grumbling or complaining… this is a BEAUTIFUL RARETY in todays grouchy society. From my observations, any time we plan to ask for help these days, we have to make sure the task is ULTRA convenient before most people are WILLING to commit. Todays leader has to spend several hours prettying up a work task to make it “appealing” before he even thinks about turning it over to a helper.

Most of todays workers and volunteers seem to want easy jobs and perfect working conditions. This social dilemma creates a TREMENDOUS opportunity for the man or woman that doesn’t mind tackling dirty jobs that come with an inconvenient LAST MINUTES NOTICE… and accomplish those jobs with a GREAT BIG SMILE and A BUNCH OF HEART!

Philippians 2:14 Do everything WITHOUT COMPLAINING or arguing,

1 Peter 4:9 Offer hospitality to one another WITHOUT GRUMBLING.

Colossians 2:23-34 Whatever you do, work at it with ALL YOUR HEART, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are SERVING.

There is nothing worse than giving away a task, only to endure a big old pile of complaining and half hearted execution. Ask most leaders and they will tell you they would rather do the job themselves than delegate it to a grumbler.

Over time, we all settle into levels of honor and success and we lose that WILLINGNESS to SERVE with a BEAUTIFUL HEART! We develop egos and we get used to delegating the less desirable tasks to others. We become accustomed to having things our way… and no longer WILLING to get dirty for the sake of a great cause.

Let’s watch out for this in our own lives dear friends! May you and I be KNOWN IN OUR CIRCLES as the SERVANTS OF ALL… the people who complain the least… and give our all… at a moments notice when a moments notice is all we’re given!

I pray that todays blog adds tremendous value to your amazing lives! Please send us your comments… we love to read them all!

  1. Wow Pastor Chuck! God showed me this about 5 years ago and it was very painful to realize that I was "grumbling and complaining" and not doing it all for HIS GLORY! You are so right on and once we realize that if our attitudes change to the fact that ALL THINGS ARE FOR GOD'S GLORY AND NOT MAN'S…our outlook and perspective on daily tasks take on a completely different blessing. We are not blessed when doing things for the Lord with "grumbling and complaining" and it becomes a BURDEN, not a JOY to serve the Lord. I constantly need to be reminded of this aspect as it is way too easy to fall into the world's attitude when being asked to do something, whether it be at work, church, social event,at home, etc. Another aspect…do we serve our spouse with the attitude of "serving for God's Glory" or for our own selfish ambitions? I am still working on this attitude and it is probably the most difficult one (at least for me). Thank you for your powerful words! You always challenge me and make me check myself 🙂 As painful as that may be sometimes….I thank you! You are an incredible inspiration! Have a most blessed day in the Lord!

  2. First of all, we have the greatest Worship Team, and Pastor. No matter what your age, those young people on the Worship Team do an amazing job!!!! Are they an inspiration, or what? Pastor Chuck such a strong and focused leader and servant of the Lord! I'm so thankful to have all of you in my life! Have a great day!!

  3. WOW! WOW! WOW! I'm so sorry I missed it last night but I was serving my children. Softball scorekeeper, team mom and then taxi service. My oldest daughter lost a friend as most of you know and I will be taxiing kids to 4 different memorial services for this boy. But I learned so much last night about how a 16 year old can impact so many people through his actions and his faith. The boy was in Young Life, which is a christian teen organization. Young Life had a memorial service at the school for Andrew and I know that this boy, though his life was short, through his death will bring many young people to Christ. And I will taxi as many of those kids to the services that can open the doors for them to give there lives to the Lord as I can fit in my vehicle.

I am honored to serve anyway I can and if it means running from one end of the county to the other to take kids to hear Gods message, then I will run.

  4. WOW you gals! Nice comments today… very encouraging and very complimentary to the blog I've written. I just love reading your comments… it's nice to know that God is blessing people all day long from all over the world! It really is shocking to see how far the blog site has spread in so short a time. Who can fathom where we will be 1 year from today…

    Keep spreading the word… it's working! 🙂

  5. "Ask most leaders and they will tell you they would rather do the job themselves than delegate it to a grumbler."

This reminds me of how God doesn't like grumbling either, and how many opportunities grumbling Christians miss.

  6. chucky i have been reading your blogs every day and decided to let you know how much i enjoy them. Todays was great and very true.

    • Hey Judy (my aunt) who calls me CHUCKY on the world wide web! LOL Thanks for letting me know that Aunt Judith! I love blogging… it's one of my favorite things to do… everyday I sit down at my computer with a new blank canvas and God gives me something that BLESSED people. And to know that it does bless people… that's a blessing back to me. Hope you guys are doing really good. LOVE YOU… and hope to see you SOON! Have a super duper day!! 🙂

  7. Wow….after Thursday I was ready to say forget offering my help to anyone. But, I had to ask God to change me and make me realize that even though I offer service with a smile some people just don't want it or won't let others receive it.
