You Gotta Fight- For Your Right- To Paaarrrrtttyyyyyy!

Happy Saturday!

What a week this has been! Even though my tongue is dragging the ground and I will be spending most of the day finishing tomorrows message… I will be thanking God all day long for the best week in a very long time.

I noticed something in my short lifetime here on earth. That when things start to shift in our favor… and we have a week for the history books… not everyone will be happy about that. This week, more than ever before, I’ve felt that rip tide of resistance that pushes against a persons happiness.

People seem willing to rub your back all day long… just as long as you are wallowing in a puddle of misery. But, just as soon as you rise with a new attitude… just as soon as you square back your shoulders and crank up your cheese smile… just as soon as your mourning turns to DANCING… the gravity of your last catastrophe reaches for your ankles!

For various reasons, there will always be people in your world who do not want you to succeed… unless there is a HUGE personal advantage to them in your success. The devil is not rooting for you… he is not rooting for anyone. And in the quite moments of your finest victories… you will always hear that thundering racket from your BOOING section.

But you’ve gotta fight… for your right… to PAAARRRRTTYYYYY! Yes, I am quoting lyrics from a not so Christian 1980s song… the PHRASE APPLIES to my week so perfectly! We can’t let people BOO us off the field! When have to keep playing the game… the very BEST we can… because what we are doing REALLY MATTERS!

Just like a good sound technician locates antagonistic sounds and then mutes those sounds… we must be able to do this inside our heads. We have to arrest every sound and word coming in through our eyes and ears… and screen the messages, only permitting residence to the ones God wants us to KEEP IN OUR HEARTS.

For every booer, there are at least one hundred CHEERERS in our stands! Yet, sometimes the booers are so much louder. Sometimes, even in our finest moments, there will remain that stench of death and defeat… and real champions keep on winning until the sweet smell of LIFE and VICTORY fills their epic stadiums!

Really, this is a spiritual thing… and the best way to BEAT IT, is to execute the desires of our COACH no matter what kind of sound comes from the bleachers. We must remain focused on the amazingness of our dreams… not on the people who misunderstand or misrepresent our dreams… but on the people who ARE and WILL BE benefiting from them!

So go ahead… BREAK THE GRAVITY OF YOUR LAST CATASTROPHE my dear friends! When AFTER those very long seasons of laying on your bathroom floor in fetal position, weeping and groaning in a pool of your own vomit… and in those times when it would seem that all hope is gone and there is no longer any chance of coming back… and WHEN the momentum begins to shift in your direction again…  YOU GOTTA FIGHT… FOR YOUR RIGHT… to PARRRRTYYYYY! God is rooting for you… he still believes in you… he loves you all!

I have been a booer before… we’ve all been booers before. Today, let us resolve to never be the stumbling block in someone else’s path. Let us not be the sound that others have to mute in order to keep on going! How sad it would be to get to the end of our lives and realize, others gave up on their dreams because of our booing… how painful to find that others had to weep their ways to victory and succeed in spite of our GREAT OPPOSITION.

1 Thessalonians 2:1-2 You yourselves know, dear brothers and sisters, that our visit to you was not a failure. You know how badly we had been treated at Philippi just before we came to you and how much we suffered there. Yet our God gave us the courage to declare his Good News to you boldly, in spite of great opposition.

Hebrews 12:2-3 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up.

Maybe we will see you at Destiny Family Center tomorrow? I hope so! Have a most outstanding weekend everyone!

  1. "Take the shackles off my feet so I can dance…I just want to praise you… I just want to praise you!" Lyrics from "Shackles" by Mary Mary! You ever heard of that song Deborah??? lol

  2. Thats great stuff Pastor, I myself have been a booer to, man the thought of hurting someone through my booing sickens me! We are not called by God to be booers but to encourage each other especially when when one is down and when they are on top of the world we should lift one another up higher and higher! Build one another up in our most Holy Faith!!! Thanks I do have the right to Paaarrrrtttyyyyyy!!!

  3. Thank you so much for the encouragement!!! When we are going through a tough time, maybe if we remember that our testimony on the other side will help somebody else hang on, that can give courage to hang on ourselves!!

  4. Let me qoute you from last weeks sermon “You’re hunted because of the good things you will do. Not because of the bad things you’ve done.” I think a lot of people who focus on their issues that they are in forget that. They have a tendancy to look inward at their past and say, what did I do to bring this upon myself? When I go through something I try to look at the end result from the get go. I try to stay positive. AND FIGHT FOR MY RIGHT TO PARTY. For example, Easter sunday when my ex and I went through that dramatic stuff, I was at the alter THANKING GOD for what he was going to do. Although the night prior I cried for a good 4 hours straight. Like MercyMe sings “I’ll praise you in the storm.” Although we have to fight for our right to party, we should party all the time. We know that our God will never leave us or forsake us, we will always be provided for, and we have nothing to fear. What can mortal man do to us? Kill us??? Well, I say bring it on, cause I have a fiesta, with my name on it, waiting in Heaven.

  5. When you click on your blog from your facebook posting there is a share bar at the top of the page.

Even when others aren't glad you are succeeding keep on dancing and lifting your hand to God.
