Happy Tuesday!
Besides leading people to Christ, there is nothing in all the earth comparable to being all alone in the early morning hours, in a secret garden with God and angels… when an earthling worships God with all his heart… and suddenly, a reality of the nearness and realness of Father God overtakes such a person… and in these moments one catches a very small glimpse of what life shall be like after he has passed over into eternity…
For almost 18 years, this has been my DAILY routine… to rise EARLY while almost everyone in my time zone is still sleeping… and go face to face with the lover of my soul.
Many people are very good at many things… I am very good at PRAYING and WORSHIPING God. In fact, I am much better at this than I am at anything else in life… I would like to think I pray FAR BETTER than I preach. I want my whole life to be a prayer driven life.
Call me crazy, but I believe God considers me one of his VERY CLOSE FRIENDS. I’m not a perfect Christian… I make so many mistakes just like every other person… but I’m always shutting down the noisiness of my very busy life to have quality moments with my amazing Father… obsessively sitting and chatting with him many times each day.
This lively routine has kept me FRESH and YOUNG and STRONG… like the MIGHTY EAGLES! Even though I have been hunted more than almost anyone I know, I remain YOUNG and POWERFUL to this day. Nothing has been able to successfully bring me down. Every time my enemy rushes at me like a never ending sea of waves… my VERY CLOSE FRIEND surrounds me like an impenetrable iron wall! And I am SAFE!
Sadly, few humans ever know this kind of experience. Society teaches us to avoid such spiritual obsessions. Yet, we are encouraged to obsess over earthly things… even considered bizarre if we do not LOVE this world like EVERYONE else.
1 John 2:15-16 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.
Psalm 27:4-6
4 The one thing I ask of the Lord-
the thing I seek most-
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
delighting in the Lord’s perfections
and meditating in his Temple.
5 For he will conceal me there when troubles come;
he will hide me in his sanctuary.
He will place me out of reach on a high rock.
6 Then I will hold my head high
above my enemies who surround me.
At his sanctuary I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy,
singing and praising the Lord with music.
Psalm 84:1-4
1 How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
2 I long, yes, I faint with longing
to enter the courts of the Lord.
With my whole being, body and soul,
I will shout joyfully to the living God.
3 Even the sparrow finds a home,
and the swallow builds her nest and raises her young
at a place near your altar,
O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, my King and my God!
4 What joy for those who can live in your house,
always singing your praises
In the 1990’s, we were taught to beware… of being too HEAVENLY MINDED that we are no longer any EARTHLY GOOD. Today, we have gone to the other extreme: we have become too EARTHLY minded that we are no longer any HEAVENLY good.
Let us rediscover that wonder of loving God most extravagantly! Here’s a video to kick it off for you today!
