Independence From The Oppressive Control of an Intolerant Old Fashioned God??

Happy Tuesday!

I woke up this morning concerned about so many things. My heart aches so much for the USA. I want to help her… I have dreams of leading her to safety… I’m positive I have some of the answers… but nobody seems to be listening. The whole land rises daily, like zombies walking on a dirt path at night straight over a deadly cliff. I feel like a crazy person standing with a roadway-sign out, last chance-exit here! And the whole country just keeps on walking in the same direction… with their arms forward and their eyes closed, oblivious to the SIGNS.

Please don’t take me as a gloom and doomer here… I don’t usually blog like this. My aim in this life is to INSPIRE tomorrow’s better world. I want to reach more and MORE people with REAL hope. Yeah, some would deem me narrow minded… they see guys like me as the obstacle in the expressway to PROGRESS. Political correctness and the modern obsession for TOLERANCE… it’s taken away my right to stand on the solid rock of my ancient truths.

Thank God I come out of a generation that was told the truth, WHILE THE TRUTH WAS STILL BEING TOLD. And while liberal historians work tirelessly at the devious task of re-telling American history, I will never be able to forsake the truth I already know and BELIEVE! America WAS founded on Christian values… she was established by men who LOVED Jesus unashamedly… and when she stood on that unchanging ROCK of her founding values, she stood tall.

Today, we claim to be a nation for everybody… and we have become a nation for nobody! We claim to be a nation of many gods… and we have offended the ONE GOD that birthed us and raised us well into young adulthood.

Look at us… all grown up now! We’ve become so BEAUTIFUL and INFLUENTIAL and INNOVATIVE and RICH. And thinking ourselves to be WISE, we have become FOOLS.

America has become the PRODIGAL NATION. We didn’t like having a FATHER who told us how to live. We felt as if GOD was HOLDING US BACK… he was slowing us down! We felt as if we knew better than GOD… we sniffed a better world just beyond the borders of his protective care… we claimed to be advanced far beyond his antiquated ideals!

Some time ago, the majority voice of this country went before FATHER… and they DEMANDED our inheritance! It’s taken them a few decades to GET FATHER OFF OUR BACKS… they asked FATHER to STOP CONTROLLING US… to stay out of our decisions… they sought for independence from the “OPPRESSIVE CONTROL” of an intolerant, old fashioned GOD.

Our nation wanted a sexual revolution and we got it! We wanted to SPEND our money however it FELT best… and WE DID IT! We wanted to live however we FELT like living… without having to FEEL BAD about LIVING WRONG.

And here we are… LIVING THE LIFE right? And just like the YOUNG MAN in the story below… we have NO IDEA where this road is going to take us!

Luke 15:11-24

11 To illustrate the point further, Jesus told them this story: “A man had two sons. 12 The younger son told his father, ‘I want my share of your estate now before you die.’ So his father agreed to divide his wealth between his sons.

13 “A few days later this younger son packed all his belongings and moved to a distant land, and there he wasted all his money in wild living. 14 About the time his money ran out, a great famine swept over the land, and he began to starve. 15 He persuaded a local farmer to hire him, and the man sent him into his fields to feed the pigs. 16 The young man became so hungry that even the pods he was feeding the pigs looked good to him. But no one gave him anything.

17 “When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! 18 I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, 19 and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.”‘

20 “So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. 21 His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son.[b]’

22 “But his father said to the servants, ‘Quick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet. 23 And kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast, 24 for this son of mine was dead and has now returned to life. He was lost, but now he is found.’ So the party began.

Can one man make a difference? Can one church… or a few churches make a difference? Is there any real HOPE for us? While politicians claim NEW HOPE in creating a NEW AMERICA… are we going to FIND REAL HOPE if we continue in this liberal direction. Will we survive in a world of untold dangers without A FATHER… without A GOD?

Maybe I’m just a crazy person… but I WANT TO LIVE UNDER THE PROTECTION OF A LOVING FATHER… I WANT A FATHER WHO SHOWS ME HOW TO LIVE RIGHT… even if this means I WILL HAVE TO STOP DOING SOME OF THE THINGS I FIND PLEASURE IN DOING. Because real freedom is not found in being controlled by nothing… real freedom is found in being accountable to a LOVING FATHER.

I have seen into the future… and even though I feel way too insignificant these days, standing before this bottomless pit of national decay… even though I’m way too SILENT in a SEA OF DEADLY VOICES… my day will come! My support will gain momentum… people will join to my cause… and we will do what we can do to bring America to her senses!

I hope todays blog gives its readers a burden for America… that it will CREATE PRAYER. God bless you all… I am praying especially for all the highlanders out there… for the legends of tomorrow incubating in the caves. Your day is coming…

  1. I totally agree!! I do not think you are crazy. My burden for America has been growing immensely! I do not understand how a “New America” can be the answer! The “New America” is heading away from God when what we really need to do is head back to God!!! When we were kids we always ran to our parents when we felt we were in real danger, as adults we need to do the same. We need to RUN, NOT WALK to the protective arms of our Father! He is the only thing that can help America. We don’t need more plans, programs or reform. We need to get back to being ONE NATION UNDER GOD!! I am sorry if that sounds so cliché, but it is TRUTH! I think we need to spend a little less time worrying about keeping up with the “New America” times and get back to the TRUTH in our FATHER!!

  2. This is, sad to say, right on the money!. Wait till you hear Ambassador Alan Keyes 2nite. His speech will confirm what you’re blogging.

  3. I have sensed that same burden for prayer over this nation and its leaders. And I have also had one scripture running through my head: II Chronicles 7:14 “If My people which are called by My Name…”

Our prayers over this nation can do GREAT things! From one small city, one devoted church, God can begin a wave of enormous proportions. Don’t forget, every revival started with one certain someone.

When I read your last comment about the caves, Pastor Chuck, I suddenly thought of Elijah, and everything within me said, “You’re not alone.” There are more of us out here, getting the same message from God: PRAY.

    Blessings to you! Lead on!

  4. You know, I have been getting so discouraged these days, I don’t even want to watch the news! Maybe “discouraged” doesn’t cover the spectrum…I go from depressed, to down-right terrified sometimes. (And maybe-angry-when I run into a really complacent person) What is happening to our America–the slippery ground she has been coaxed onto–IS an impending calamity if we don’t turn back to our (THE ONLY) God. And I understand your feeling of insignificance…like being the only one to see what’s coming, but no one else can (or will) listen.

But, Pastor, today’s blog, DID NOT have the same effect on ME. Not as the streams of warnings from current events usually do. I actually feel a fire being kindled right now. Like a growing rally of hope and FIGHT! Your voice–and others–WILL make a difference! Every ear turned and atuned to the side of RIGHT, is one life changed. One life is important. One life will pray. And one life will find another…and another…

I am grateful for your post today, Pastor Chuck, I guess what I’ve been without is HOPEFULNESS.
Your words have ENCOURAGED me. 🙂

  5. I am so broken, yet so encouraged, so down, yet so lifted up by your words. God gave me the most incredible, heart-wrenching burden for our country and our youth beginning on 7-7-07 and it has continued to this day. God took me on a 40-day fast to seek him for nothing but our nation and to only pray for our nation and its leaders…but also for the LEADERS OF TOMORROW…OUR YOUTH! During this 40 days I have never been more broken, more humbled, more in tune to the voice of God, never prayed more, never touched God more…it was the most incredible 40 days of my life and has changed me FOREVER! I too am always reciting the scripture from 2 Chron. 7:14 (“If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray, seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land”). I cry out to God to put this burden to PRAY on HIS PEOPLE like they have never felt before and that we would all be on our faces before the Lord, day and night, seeking HIS WILL for our nation(s). This scripture is on my wall at my desk so I never forget to PRAY! I love Toby Mac’s new song “City on our Knees”. When I hear this song I can’t but help make it my cry to God that “my city” would fall on their knees at that moment and PRAY! Once again, thank you for your heart and inspiration that I am not alone in this emotion, prayer, desire and longing for our nation(s).

  6. Everyone… AMAZING comments today! Crazy thing with all this 2Chronicles 7:14 talk is this: I started blogging late this morning @ 7:14 and when I checked my stats from yesterday… 714 pageviews!

Rae… I too was praying for the youth people of our nation on 7-7-7. I was on vacation in the Outer Banks, grieving because I was not at the Lou Engle’s youth gathering… so I prayed most of that day as well! Wild huh?

I appreciate Rae and Kristin commenting about the encouragement you both felt in this solemn post. That was my aim- not to write a gloom and doom letter, but to INSPIRE PRAYER and ACTION… and create the urgency needed.

Looks like it was successful at least for you guys… hopefully to the others who read from all over the world!

  7. Dear Chuck ,when Congress told the schools not to have prayer that was a major down fall for us her in the USA when other nations came here and told us that we can not have Christian values or do certian Christian things well they came here so they must or should go by our values it is our churchs and great Pastors like yourself that are keeping our young people off the streetsit is the churchs that are keeping America strong and spritually blessed So Please keep up the great work my friend !!!!!!!!!!!!!
    God Bless
