Happy Monday!
I’m blogging late today… had to give a little extra lovin to Lucy Balsamo (the new pup of our fam). She had an early doctors appointment… getting FIXED today! We use this term in America to describe the tying of the tubes… you know, the surgery where girl dogs can’t get pregnant anymore? Yes, Lucy is going UNDER THE KNIFE this morning… but it’s ok everyone, because I prayed over her and I explained that she has nothing to worry about because she is in the LOVING hands of God!
Had another great Sunday yesterday… and a great weekend altogether! Really, I just thought about how much God is being FELT at Destiny Family Center these days… and it ACTUALLY brought tears to my eyes!

Surrogates: The Preciousness of Human Interaction!
I so ADORE all the beautiful people in my life these days! Of course, I’ve adored others in past times and sadly, no matter how much we try to be perfect in our cherished relationships, some great things do come to inevitable ends… not all relationships last forever… people come and go, in and out of our lives. And for me, this is ALWAYS painful.
Maybe I’m just overly sensitive to the blessing of good relationships! Maybe this is because of a very long decade of coming and going. Or it’s just that I’m getting older and I’m becoming far more sentimental.
On Friday night, we went to the movies: watched the new Bruce Willis robot thriller, Surrogates… and even though the movie was pretty lame, it left an impression on my heart about the preciousness of HUMAN INTERACTION!
Surrogates is a futuristic film… based on the idea that one day, all humans will send robot replicas of ourselves out into the world to do life in our stead. The movie suggests that we will plug into a highly advanced virtual reality chair… and we’ll EXPERIENCE everything our surrogate experiences without the danger of dying in car accidents or falling prey to violence.
At first, the idea seemed to have its advantages. Every day, Bruce Willis woke up, sat in his chair and activated his surrogate… as did his wife. At night, when their surrogates returned home and climbed into their chargers… and the humans disconnected from their chairs and walked out of their separate bedrooms… there was a very obvious numbness in the air, as if the only purpose of being disconnected was to eat and sleep.
Over time, Bruce Willis became more and more HEARTBROKEN as he and his wife no longer interacted outside of their surrogacy. Bruce explained to his wife how empty he was inside… how much he longed to be in relationship with his HUMAN WIFE. But, since Bruce’s wife’s surrogate was so much more beautiful than the real her… she never wanted to be with Bruce as her REAL SELF.
At the end of the movie… all of the surrogates were destroyed… something like 1.4 billion of them all at once. It was pretty cool watching 1.4 billion people fall to the ground all at once.
Then, after about 30 seconds of SILENCE… doors started opening and HUMANS walked out into the DAY LIGHT. The movie closes with Bruce Willis and his wife looking into each other’s HUMAN EYES and embracing each other’s HUMAN BODIES and all humans began reuniting with one another… and everyone seemed to realize the PRECIOUSNESS OF HUMAN INTERACTION.
For me, Surrogates created a new appreciation for the HUMAN KIND! Even with all our imperfections… we are a BEAUTIFUL species! God MADE us to be interdependent upon one another… we are BUILT to LOVE and BE LOVED! We need to INTERACT and EXPERIENCE the sensation of doing REAL LIFE with each other… apart from gadgets and all the other devises BETWEEN US in this world of altered reality.
I guess I’m just trying to express my love for all the humans in my life! I LOVE doing life with you guys… and one day, I wish to meet EVERY person in my tribe! I long to LOOK YOU IN THE EYES and embrace you… and talk FACE TO FACE… and fully appreciate how beautiful you really are!
Today… recognize the beauty of your friends! Cherish the gift of HUMAN INTERACTION. Thank God for all the people in your circle. Aspire to BLESS them… and LOVE them with ALL YOU’VE GOT!
Have a super day everyone!

LOVED the movie. Agree with the thematic obs. It was like WALL e and Matrix combined.
So cool he made the decision to pull the plug on the Surreys.
Oh I can so relate to what you've gone through with the ending of relationships. It does hurt and it never gets easy. But, God will provide you with the friends you truly need. I do believe that. It is not about the quanity of relationships, but the quality. It reminds of the song by Michael w. Smith….Friends are Friends forever if the Lord if the Lord's the Lord of them. Human interaction is important. Oh I wish people understood that.
Great thoughts you guys… I think that song was played at my high school graduation!
