Happy Monday!

Got up at 4:30 this morning… raced into my family room/prayer room/home office as usual… and before I could even think on purpose, my boldest dreams were popping up in my heart UNCONSCIOUSLY! Really, these images and video clips of the future did not originate in my mind… they were not the result of focused meditation. I just sat down on my ugly, green, worn out sofa/home office desk chair (lol) and I opened my macbook… and before I could even turn on Itunes… dreams started popping up all over my heart!

Have you ever had this happen to you before? I hope so! And I hope it happens to you again and again in the years ahead!

Humans are made up of three distinct parts. We are a SPIRIT, we possess a SOUL, and we live in a BODY. (spirit, soul, and body)

1 Thessalonians 5:23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The triune person

1. Spirit: this is the innermost part of man that God created in his image. Every human spirit is either “fallen and dead” or “reborn or made alive through Jesus Christ.”
2. Soul: every human spirit is also wrapped in a human soul. This is the part of man that THINKS… this is our mind, will, and emotions. The human soul is influenced by the condition of a persons human spirit. Each person is either naturally inclined to evil because of a fallen spirit NATURE or he is naturally inclined to faith and righteousness because of a reborn spirit NATURE.
3. Body: the physical house for the HEART of man (his Spirit and Soul).

Through the human body, man interacts with his physical environment… through the human soul, man interacts with his social environment… and through the reborn human spirit, man interacts with God.

1. Body: physical
2. Soul: Intellectual
3. Spirit: Spiritual

John 3:6-7 Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. (KJV: flesh gives birth to flesh and spirit gives birth to spirit) ⁷ So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born AGAIN.’

Romans 8:6-8 So letting your sinful nature (the fallen nature) control your mind (the human soul) leads to death. But letting the Spirit (Gods Holy Spirit) control your mind (the human soul) leads to life and peace. 7 For the sinful nature (the fallen nature) is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. 8 That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.

When God created the first man Adam, he told him to enjoy the entire universe, but not to eat fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil… and if he did, he would surely die.

Genesis 2:6-7 “But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden—¹⁷ except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”

When Adam sinned in the garden of eden by eating the forbidden fruit… which part of Adams total man actually died? Thats easy, it was his SPIRIT! This is proven in the fact that Adam still heard God walking in the garden and he covered himself with leaves (Adam REASONED). And of course, Adams BODY was obviously still living.

So then, when Adam disobeyed God, his human SPIRIT died. This is what we refer to as the “fall of mankind.” And because of this fall, every human after Adam was born with a “fallen human nature.”

In this we see the need for salvation. In this we understand what REALLY happens to a person when they put their faith in Jesus Christ. In this we know that when a person invites Jesus to become the Lord of his life, that he is BORN AGAIN. This means that the dead/fallen nature is REBORN and RELATIONSHIP with God is established!

Following the born again experience, the human soul is influenced by Gods Holy Spirit-in and through mans LIVING HUMAN SPIRIT… and he is naturally inclined to do RIGHT! He’s no longer running from God. He CRAVES prayer and Bible, and relationship with other followers of Jesus… and he wants to live differently… BECAUSE he has been MADE ALIVE! And every living thing has an APPETITE!

Ephesians 2:1-5 As for you, YOU WERE DEAD in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. 4But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5MADE US ALIVE with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is BY GRACE YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED.

And when we have been made alive… and Gods HOLY SPIRIT communicates with us in our REBORN HUMAN SPIRIT… our human SOUL (the mind, will, and emotions) starts the journey towards renewal. Even though we are SPIRITUALLY alive, we still have a memory… and that needs to be REPROGRAMMED.

In order to be SPIRITUALLY POTENT, we have to do two things.

1. Commit to the process of renewing our minds… with prayer, christian fellowship, Gods written word, etc.
2. Learn to IDENTIFY the voice of Gods Holy Spirit as He communicates with us inside of our reborn Human Spirit.

This is what I meant at the open of today blog when I said, “and before I could even THINK on purpose, my boldest dreams were popping up in my heart UNCONSCIOUSLY! Really, these images and video clips of the future did not originate in my mind… they were not the result of focused meditation.”

This is so much to CHOMP DOWN on a Monday morning… I really got carried away this morning. lol
