Happy Sunday!
We had a beautiful snow day here in the lowly village of Stuarts Draft yesterday. Looks like we received something like 6-8 inches! Snow is the perfect covering… and when the sunlight glistens down on a snowy region… there is nothing like it!
In the Bible, snow is a sign of:
- Purity
- Gods Word
- Favor & Blessing
PURITY: When we look on a snowy yard, and EVERYTHING is covered and clean… we see the perfect symbol of our purity in Christ!
Isaiah 1:17-19 Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows. “Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool. If you will only obey me, you will have plenty to eat.”
No matter how much our lives are putrified with even the vilest of sins… “though our sins are like scarlet,” God promises to beautify all who turn to him! He promises to wash us and cover us and PURIFY us, until our lives are as just as BEAUTIFUL as a SNOWY place!
GODS WORD: When we watch the snow, how it gently tumbles from the heavens, to satisfy the thirsty earth beneath it… we see the perfect symbol of Gods living Word as it gently tumbles down into our thirsty hearts!
Isaiah 55:9-11 “For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”
FAVOR & BLESSING: Just as the snow slowly melts and absorbs into the soil where it lay, and it causes the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry… we see the perfect symbol of Gods favor and blessing… the favor and blessing that springs from the gradual absorption of Gods word into the life of a believer.
So then, on every snowy day and with every fleeting thought of a snow covered village… remember this: Gods grace is always falling-just like snow falling in the winter season… it PURIFIES everything it touches! Second, remember that Gods living message tumbles over our lives just like as snow flakes tumbles down from the heavy clouds! And lastly, remember that Gods living message PROSPERS EVERYWHERE IT FALLS!
Today… as we consider the beauty of our first snow day of this winter season… let us appreciate: Purity, Gods living Word, and Gods great favor and blessings on our lives! He is continually beautifying his sons and daughters… and THAT is something to GET JOLLY ABOUT today!

Mark 11:22 - “And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.” When asked, some Christians, as to How they were doing? They say, “Okay under the circumstances.” How did you ever get there? Circumstances are like a mattress. We’re supposed to be on it, not under it. Under the circumstances, we suffocate; on them we are victorious. The only way that we can run the race is to take our eyes off things or people around us and look unto Jesus. He’s the author of the race. He’s the goal to which we run. If we look unto Jesus to supply our every need for the race, we’ll find faith growing in our heart and in our life.It’s not great faith in God; it is faith in a great God.
