I agree with you in that prayer for government. When the church unites around the heart of God, He will do it!

God bless YOU, Pastor Chuck ... you are definitely the right man for the job you do ... Shalom!!

Great reply Nora, well written and spoken with humility. As I've mentioned several times in my blogs and comments... Even though I did not vote for this President, I sincerely desire for him to be a good President.. and I am praying for him everyday, to catch the HEART of God so that he can rule with wisdom, and justice, and morality and in the spirit of our founding fathers. That he can work together with all of our nations government... and with our nations churches to build tomorrows better nation. I pray that he will make the right choices concerning our economy and in protecting our future generations AND concerning any law that speaks of morality. You are correct in saying that this is primarily the churches responsibility (I speak that same message)... however, it is my prayer that government would create laws that will better mirror Gods heart concerning such matters. God bless you Nora, have a super day!!

When I wrote this response, I believed that you didn't have a drop of prejudice in you. Otherwise, I wouldn't have said that I respect your thoughts. Also, I love a leader's ability to speak boldly whenever necessary... and no ... I'm not offended.

I have concerns about my president. I didn't decide to vote for him until the day of the election, and that is after I viewed video and read transcripts of him addressing the abortion and the gay rights issues. The material I reviewed at that time showed ME that his position on abortion and gay rights were more about freedom of choice and non-discrimination than they were about supporting a particular choice or lifestyle. What I heard and read was this:
1) He does not believe that morals can be legislated. I also remember reading a statement he made about gun control. He said that the gun is not the reason a young man goes into a neighborhood and commits a driveby. It is what is in that young man's heart. I feel like his approach to abortion rights was similar. He's placing the responsibility on people to make moral choices with the help of their families and their spiritual leaders - not on government. I also read about the bill/law that Clinton signed into effect, that Bush signed out, and that Obama signed back in. It was a big deal in the media for awhile, and it supposedly funded abortions in Mexico. Do you remember? I forgot the name of it. However, none of us know the true context of that law or bill. But, at that time, I looked at the abortion statistics during Clinton's and during Bush's administrations, and they were actually lower during Clinton's. What I saw is that politicians use those two hot topics, during election, to get a certain segment of people to vote for them, then really don't do anything about it after. This time, the people refused to be manipulated.
2) He (Obama) does not appreciate people being mistreated regardless of their lifestyle choices. I watched an interview between him and several gay community leaders, and not once did he say he supported the homosexual lifestyle. But he did say, however, that given the choices these people have already made, he will not encourage discrimination or mistreatment of them. In fact, I think that at one point the gay community was not happy with him either because he was not as much of a champion of their agenda as they thought he would be. I feel like if the church doesn't have enough power to communicate to people the evils of abortion and homosexuality, then why should we place the burden on government? These people are in bondage to sin and to false ideology. Government can't do anything about that! We don't preach against in our churches, but we want government to "preach" against it. In fact, I worked for a ministry, in which I was told that many of them believe in homosexuality. I don't work there anymore. It's time for the church to do what SHE was called to do.

You're right ... I've wondered about my position regarding Pres. Obama, and have asked God to identify, if there is any, prejudice that may lie in my heart. But, what I see about Obama is that he is no more or less capable than any other president, no more or less moral than any other president, no more or less flawed than any other president. I do, however, question people who embrace the media's interpretation of his actions (i.e. talking UNITY, then slamming the Republican party for not DOING WHAT HE COMMANDS, being weak to handle the global crisis on terror). How can those of us who are watching this through the eyes of the media possibly know if that interpretaion is correct? Besides, God said that his strength is made perfect in weakness.

It just seems to me that people are too willing to "talk" about what they THINK he is doing wrong, rather than just being quiet and praying for him. Of course, I expect that from the media, but not the mature church. So, I wonder if there is a hidden root of prejudice which says a man with brown skin can't possibly lead OUR country. Also, Rush Limbaugh seems to be taking Pres. Obama's position as president and his decisions in government VERY personally. I don't know if he's a wannabe politician, but his response to Obama is irrational - and supposed non-prejudiced, kingdom-minded people listen to and enjoy his slander. What's up with that?

As a Christian, Obama does make me kind of nervous, but something in me said that I would not be religious in my view of him and his presidency - that I would search a little deeper, and at the same time pray that he yields himself fully to God. Besides, again, I have been asking God to show me who to vote for, for quite some time AND I have heard two prophets testify since then that God told them who was His choice for president. Bobby Conner said that God told him that HIS choice was a "brown bag" ... lol. Isn't that funny? This reminds me that God is very aware that he is just a man like the 43 presidents who came before him - but with brown skin. But God knows, and every mature Christian knows, that neither he nor the 43 who came before him are really in control of this thing, especially with a pure-hearted, loving body of Christ praying for God's will to be done. Can the church, at least, just give this man a break and pray? Let's use our mouths to do what scripture tells to do - pray for those in authority that they may lead peaceable lives and boldly address the sin (abortion and homosexuality) in the lives of people that God assigns to us. That part is not the government's job, it's OURS!

Shalom ... wonderful Pastor Chuck!!!

Hello Nora... thanks for commenting. I can't speak for the rest of this nation... but I can say without hesitation, that there is not ONE DROP of prejudice in my heart. It's very sad to me that any person who disagrees with the direction President Obama is trying to force our country, is labeled as a racist.

Second, I fully support President Obama with HEARTFELT prayer every single day. I want him to be a good president... I want him to leave office, remembered as a blessing to this country. I'm not rooting against HIM... but I am rooting against MANY of his political views... too many to mention in this blog.

My question to you is this: Are you rooting for President Obama ONLY because he is a black President? If that were the case, then you would be guilty of the very thing you have accused others of doing. Please don't take offense, I'm just asking.

As a Christian, are you clapping for President Obama when he FULLY supports gay rights and abortion... and when he is weak to handle the global crisis on terror? Will you still be clapping for him when America is mourning (just like 911) again and again and again... because, as a FAR LEFT President, he is more than willing to forward the VERY REAL terror crisis of TODAY as far into the future as he and his anti-war friends are able?

As a Christian, are you clapping for President Obama while he talks of UNITY and then 30 minutes later, he slams the republican party for not DOING WHAT HE COMMANDS? Are you clapping for him while leads this country into the very brink of SOCIALISM?

I realize this reply may come off as sharp retaliation... and if it does, then please accept my deepest apologies. I'm just sharing my heart with you... just as you have shared yours with me.

If we're going to CLAP, then lets clap about good policy... not because we're trying to PRESERVE the legacy of our historical first black president. And if like you have suggested, we are going to BOO, then lets NEVER boo because we're trying to PROHIBIT the legacy of our historical first black president. Race should NEVER be the issue...

Yes, I have read the Kim Clement prophecy... thus the reason I continue to PRAY LIKE crazy for God to INTERCEPT President Obama just as he INTERCEPTED Saul of Tarsus. This president still has time to make a lasting MARK in the future of America. So far, I have not seen it.

Once again... thank you very much for the comments... I hope you can appreciate my honesty. God bless you Nora...

Oh! I forgot! I voted for George Bush in both elections, and asked God then and durng the last one who he wanted me to vote for. In fact, I've done the same over the last 20 years. The only time I lost is when I refused to vote for Clinton his second term after he was unfaithful to his wife.
