Ever been BURNT OUT before?
I hit a BRICK WALL with my WRITING yesterday afternoon… it was so painful, felt like vessels were popping in my brain! I almost buried my computer in a snow drift and walked away from this mission, just a few weeks from the finish line! Well, that may be a slight exaggeration, but it was the worse writing DAY ever, following the best writing WEEK ever.
I suppose this creates the perfect opportunity to blog about BALANCE!
burnout
You see, riding on the heels of 30 days back and forth to Richmond while my wife went through the process of losing her dad… and working to implement a new year for Destiny Family Center… and fighting off the pressure created by the most challenging financial year of our lives… and after working 7 days a week, 18 hours a day for a few weeks, even through the recent snow storms… with VERY LITTLE REST… yesterday was INEVITABLE!

I reasoned that I could throw my life out of balance for ONE MONTH, so I could finish my book… then I would REST. After all, I’ve done this before… and very successfully. My family was fully supporting the plan… they were cheering me on… everything was working perfectly… until my mind SHUT DOWN yesterday morning!

So I took the evening off, picked Emily up from work at 3:30, exercised with her at the house to Jillian’s Biggest Looser Last Workout Video. Watched Amelia… boring moving in my opinion. Ordered pizza, watched the winter Olympics… fell asleep, well rested. A perfect diversion… we’ll see how much it helped as I move into my demanding day!
Oh and I forgot to mention that enjoyable phone call with Kim Zahren! What a friend he’s been over the years! In his 40s, Kim has been accepted into LAW SCHOOL! Something I’ve always dreamed of doing… and MAY do after I receive my doctorate this year! I’m so INSPIRED by his ENERGY!
Kim’s family is offering us their Grand Cayman paradise for as long as we desire to stay… all we need is air fare and food money. Maybe after the book is turned over to a publisher and things are a little different for us… check out the video and pray we will be able to go before their property is sold.

I think that just as with any great song… there are times when ONE instrument plays more than all the others… there are times when specific life equities have their SOLO moments in the song of our lives… but we have to pay attention to the balance, order, rhythm, and harmony… we have to FEEL THE WAVES!

- Water ski across the SURFACE of your life… see the whole thing at a GLANCE.
- Listen to the SONG of your life!
- Ask yourself, “Is my song a beautiful song… a song with perfect balance, order, rhythm, and harmony?”
- Ask yourself, “Can I FEEL the waves?”
- If something is out of balance, it should be OBVIOUS at this point.
- So, take a few minutes and TUNE YOUR ORCHESTRA! Make the necessary adjustments TODAY! Trust me, you’ll be gad you did!

What a wonderful analogy of how life can be like a song. I am so thrilled for you, that your family has the opportunity to relax and vacation in a virtual paradise on earth! Your words inspire so many of us, and I believe that God sends us those rewards to show His love to us. I pray that even when your book is finished, that you may be even more inspired to share your testimony with others-perhaps in a different forum. Have you ever thought of putting your book on tape? So often I see people who say that their lives are so busy, on the go with work and activities, they feel as though they live in their cars! If you were to record your message on CD- others would have the opportunity to listen to your world changing inspiration when they simply don't have the time to sit and read. Your message's from God are too important to limit! I pray right now that God opens up the road to opportunites that have yet to be discovered for You!!! Your family (Emily, Coree and Heaven) have had the blessing of spending their lives in a household of prayer and protection. Of living under a husband and father who never disregarded them, always blessed them, spoke success and beauty over their lives…and believed the best in them and about them.
I can see, just by knowing you all, that one of the basic Balsamo beliefs is "love always wins". Even after the painful coals you've had to walk, you guys are a gorgeous example of FAMILY. This type of triumph is the result of YOUR heart after God, and upholding the standard in your cave!
Thanks for this analogy of regaining balance. I know this is gonna work for me from here on out! I love to close my eyes and focus on each and every component of a beautiful song…why couldn't my life be like a song?! And if so, I could CONTROL the tempo, order, harmony,etc.
A great message today, Pastor ~ I am retired and know my life is out of balance. I spend too much time on this computer. But I accomplished a dream and became a member of ASCAP as an author, publisher. Now if I could just get a song professionally recorded, that would be so wonderful. Keep on with your book, and don't give up. I love the title of the message. Blessings ~

Kim… I had NO IDEA! Wow, my story about you is now even more impressive… although, I see you living to be VERY VERY OLD, like YODA! So go for it on the Law Degree… you still have ANOTHER LIFE LEFT IN YOU!
