I believe I can Fly!

Happy Wednesday!

Yesterdays post: My Passionate Argument Against Socialism was the most read blog in 4 months! Since debating politics is not the primary nature of this blog site, I will be changing subjects today. Hopefully, everyone appreciated both of my candid messages on this hot topic! I aimed to explain the differences between capitalism and socialism… and the very imminent threat to freedom we are now facing in America. I wanted to explain this in a way that non-political people could really understand it.

Thank you all for making this discussion a perfect success!

Todays inspirational message: I believe I can fly!

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNH2iF5AQmE&NR=1

Yesterday, I received an energizing phone call from one of the young men of our church. I led this guy to Christ about 6 years ago… he was single when we met, dealing and using drugs… a very dangerous fellow, just like I was when God found me!

Today, he’s happily married with two beautiful children… his family comes to church every time the doors are open. They’ve grown so much over the past 6 years… it’s really hard for any rational minded person to believe!

Whenever a person climbs up out of an oppressive mode of survival, it usually takes a very long time before they overcome the slave mentality. Because their paths are paved with failure, their minds are programmed to expect more of the same. Do any of you guys identify with this message so far? I write from plenty of personal experience!

We are taught to think: Once a drug addict, always a drug addict… and if that, then once a failure, always a failure.

We reason: “Maybe this is just the way life is supposed to be for me… maybe some people are born to live like this… maybe I was made to struggle and I’m supposed to live from paycheck to paycheck… and I’m supposed to blow my temper every few weeks… and I’m supposed to be tossed back and forth between failure and the slight possibility of success… and mainly live at the bottom for the rest of my life!”

I believe EVERYONE can fly! This is not an unsubstantiated theory… its been tested and proven time and time again! I have seen too many people go from the very bottom to the very top! And if ANYONE can do this, then EVERYONE can do it!

This young man that called me yesterday… he said, “I’ve been doing allot of thinking lately! I might want to go to college… and try to do something bigger with my life. Because I can’t believe that God created me to stay at the bottom for all of my life!”

He asked me if I felt like he was thinking correctly… and he asked about my own rags to riches story… and I told him my story! And by the end of that call… I could feel a ONCE IN A LIFETIME twinkle in this young mans spirit… like he had SEEN THE LIGHT and there was no turning back from here!

Whether he goes to college, or he moves into some kind of sales position, or he enrolls in some kind of management program… this young man now believes he can FLY, and SO DO I! Wait until he tells the rest of the story ten years from today!

I’m writing about this beloved spiritual son to provoke a similar “AH-HAH” in other tribe members! People live their whole lives as a tiny fraction of their divine potential… until one day when they wake up and say, “WAIT A MINUTE… I’M NOT GOING TO LIVE LIKE THIS ANYMORE… starting NOW, I’m aiming HIGHER IN LIFE… because, I BELIEVE I CAN FLY!”

Here are three VERY GOOD blogs on this topic… read each one, if you can!

Maybe today is your day to start aiming higher… it all begins with a new belief about your potential! I just finished praying for you all… have a most triumphant day!

Oh, and here’s the perfect video for this moment! Something Beautiful by Need to Breathe

  1. Thank you for that! It is so easy to fall into 'survival mode' and not expect more. The world caters to that mediocre mentality! I have this myself sometimes, but I am coming around.

I would think to myself, paycheck to paycheck is making it and making it is better than not making it. But the truth is that I can be anything I want to be. (Esp. since Mr. Obama prides himself on sending single moms to college, HA!)But if it were up to him I'd be on welfare and wear gross yucky sweat pants and unbrushed hair with spaghetti stains on my tshirt sitting at home wondering why life isn't fair and completely dependant on the gov. for our next meal. (Okay so I may be exaggerating, but I do feel like the Gov. tries to hold us back.

Back to the issue lol, (bad a.d.d). I need a new dream/vision. I want to be more objective and assertive and get somewhere in life. I think sour relationships can suck the dream out of you.

We are blessed to have people like that family in our church. It's an encouragement to see young couples not giving up. We see the fire fade, but the good news is that it can return if we stomp the 'defeat mode'. The joy of the Lord trumps the bottom feeder mindset so we need to pray for joy 🙂

  2. good morning dr. C Thought I should take a moment and clarify the comment I made earlier in the week, the one that caused you to grrrrrr me. It's true that I don't believe Fox "News" but I don't believe MSNBC or CNN either. It's weird but my Spirit man will just not let me watch that stuff. The bible says the Lord's servant should not quarrel and I find that none of these people are really after the truth but would rather sell tickets to their particular brands of hatred.

Secondly I hate to see how easily my Christian brethern are swept onto STUPID train that leaves the station. God gave us a brain so we could study and analyze instead of just jumping on some bandwagon because it supposedly backs someone's narrow minded view. An example would include our recent knee jerk reaction to our Christian president and the decision to invade Iraq after were attacked by eighteen young men from Saudi Arabia. That decision was wildly applauded by the Christian community. I can remember R. Joyner say we should forgive them..after we have nuked them and even Andrew Wommack said that" we should nuke them and then shoot them in the dark." That fateful decision cost the lives of thousands of our best servicmen and women and killed tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis. Now we're dealing with the consequences. All of this has served to strengthen Iran and now we have deal with all their craziness.

It reminds too of how Hollywood played the Christian community during all the hype about that stupid Tom Hanks movie. They sold it to churches as a "teaching moment" and just about every church in America bought into it. The net result was a big to do about nothing and even more people paid to see the movie and not a single person lost faith in the gospel as a result.

I think Christians are being played again in this debate about health care. Just say the words abortion and expansion of health care and evryone just begins to go nuts without even knowing the facts contained within the current legislation. It's entirely even these ideas are planted by the very health insurance companies whose roles are about expand and who are about to make bazillions more. This aint socialism but capitalism at it's best (worst) Ok that's my rant….now you know how I feel Love Ya Kim

  3. I KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO FEEL ROCK BOTTOM AND FIGHTING FOR EVERYTHING…FAITH CAN AND WILL MOVE MOUNTAINS AND THIS IS SO INSPIRING TODAY .I HAD THE SAME PERSON CALL AND LET ME KNOW THAT HE HAD BEEN PRAYING FOR ME TODAY AND HIS HEART IS SO STRONG AND SPIRIT SO ON FIRE THAT IT REALLY GOT MY BLOOD A FLOWING…I BELIEVE I CAN FLY AND MUST FOCUS ON THE WORD OF GOD TO KNOW THAT THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO COME FOR ME TO–THANKS YOU GUYS I NEEDED THAT JOLT AMEN

  4. I heard a quote recently, "There are too many people walking around like Clark Kent and have no idea that they can fly like Superman." That quote impacted me then just like your blog impacts me now. Thanks Chuck!
