My Top 11 Most Difficult Things To Do In Life!

Happy Wednesday!

My top 11 most difficult things to do in life:

11. Eat my most hated food: beets!

10. Discipline my children when they are bad.

09. Walk my three uncooperative dogs in the rain.

08. Think of giving my daughter away on her wedding day.

07. Think about saying goodbye to my children when they go to college this fall.

06. Resist the temptation to quit ministry and go live a self-indulgent life like so much of the rest of the world, especially on certain days when spit flies at my sacrifices.

05. Preach the funeral of an unsaved person.

04. Love my betrayers, when the fresh pain still makes me want to hate them.

03. Write a blog when I feel hopeless and defeated.

02. Listen to my moms last voice mail.

01. Preach the funerals for my Mom, Grandfather, Uncle, and Father in Law.

I thank God for giving me His strength to do everything on that list (except eating the beets)! What are your most difficult things to do in life? Think about this for a little while. Write a list. Then ask God to give you His strength to do those difficult things you’re not able to do without Him.

1 Samuel 22:32-34 For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights.

1 Chronicles 16:11 Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.

Psalm 22:18-20 They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing. But you, O LORD, be not far off; O my Strength, come quickly to help me. Deliver my life from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs.

Psalm 28:8 The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.

Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

I just finished praying for you all… have a most triumphant day! With much love…

  1. I dont know about anyone of you, but when i read those verses, the verses that i know quite well .. but today it seems different, it seem God Himself looked at me and say those word to me .. I feel crying just now, thinking about all the hard thing; about everything seems like stressed me these day. Thank God for the word of GOD that saved me again and again; it saved me each time im thinking about QUITTING *phew* such a sinful thought. Im moving on!! “When i move, GOD move. When i stop, God stop”

    Amazing blog as always!
Ps Chuck, wish you could visit Indonesia sometimes. You should visit us for real .. You’ll amazed! *smile*

  2. WOW!!! I knew I needed this this morning but until I started reading I didn’t know HOW much!!! I agree with Essly something was different this morning about these verses!! There have been many obstacles in my life lately and I thank God for His strength for without it I would not still be pushing forward. He reaches down and pulls me up over and over again. No matter how hard it seems He is always there! He is my strength and my refuge. It is so encouraging to read these words again on your blog this morning! And now as I now pull myself back together to get to work I just want to thank you Pastor… words cannot express what this blog does for me on mornings like today! Love you all!

  3. 11. Affirm myself daily

    10. Resist diversion (like daydreaming when there is a task to do)

    9. Close my mouth (or, not open it in the first place!)

    8. Open my mouth (yeah, that’s right!)

    7. Open my eyes (take real account of MY actions vs. heart)

    6. Take my vitamins EVERY DAY! (I started liking beets when I was 38… your day’s coming, my friend!)

    5. Exercise

    4. Effectively encourage a grieving person

    3. Be alone (when I don’t want to be!)

    2. Confrontation

    1. Doing Nothing (resist urge to “fix things”)

Guess how long it took me to come up with these eleven things? Guess how long it took me to hit the “submit” button?

I thank God for the “friuts of the Spirit”. Without love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, forgivness, joy, faithfulness and self control, there’d be no living with me! Dear God, strengthen me everyday, AMEN!

    • Essly… I will come to Indonesia one day. It's going to happen! I've been praying for you these past few days, hoping you really feel the difference! You are an amazing person… and the difference you're making will be showcased in eternity! Keep running your race…

Elaine… true that! I like where you said, "There have been many obstacles in my life lately and I thank God for His strength for without it I would not still be pushing forward. He reaches down and pulls me up over and over again. No matter how hard it seems He is always there! He is my strength and my refuge." BEAUTIFUL and thank you for the kind words about this blog!
