Give Yourself Away!

Happy Friday!

I’m writing from McDonalds once again… logged into youtube and fumbled into the following featured video. It blessed me so much that I thought to bless you with it.

In this video, “I Give Myself Away,” William McDowell sings…

Chorus:
I give myself away
I give myself away
So You can use me
I give myself away
I give myself away
So You can use me

Verse 1:
Here I am
Here I stand
Lord, my life is in your hands
Lord, I’m longing to see
Your desires revealed in me
I give myself away

Verse 2:
Take my heart
Take my life
As a living sacrifice
All my dreams all my plans
Lord I place them in your hands

Chorus:
I give myself away
I give myself away
So You can use me
I give myself away
I give myself away
So You can use me

Chorus:
I give myself away
I give myself away
So You can use me
I give myself away
I give myself away
So You can use me

Bridge(7X):
My life is not my own
To you I belong

This song makes me think about a few key verses from the Bible.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

Psalm 143:10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.

John 15:9-12 “I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

John 10:10-12 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd who owns the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.

Really, God has done so much to save you and me from our old, empty lives. Jesus laid His self all the way down so that we can benefit from His sacrificial mission.

Do you have a sacrificial mission?

Today, let us realize that we have been purchased (redeemed, ransomed, rescued, saved) with a very high price and we no longer belong to ourselves. God has a plan for our lives and that plan oftentimes requires sacrifice.

Give yourself away.

Honor God with your body… everyday!

Seek to know His will for your life… and do that, whatever it is!

Always fight to remain in the love of God, the kind of love that lays its whole life down for a sacrificial mission!

  1. God is so good! I can't wait for Sunday either! Cody's mother (the Cody got saved and baptized last week) is coming to church, as is Micah, a young woman that God saved yesterday. The fire of God is engulfing everyone that it touches! I am so excited for prayer meeting tonight, I know God is coming! I have been praying that God would send two groups of people tonight; those that need God and those that are on fire for God, and the two worlds are going to collide! Have a great day! I know God is going to give you an awesome word for Sunday!

  2. Why is it so hard for people to give up their desires for God's? God's plans for us are perfect. They amaze me daily….the plans He has for Randy's and I life. I guess it is fear that keeps people from totally trusting Him. So, I pray today we release that fear and run to Him laying down our will and desires to be sucked up by Him so He can have His way in us.
