Rebuilding Our Foundations

Happy Saturday!

I woke up at 3am and couldn’t sleep, so I decided to edit for a few hours. I taking Emily to the Charlottesville Breast Cancer 4 Miler @ 5:45am. After the race, I’m going to visit my grandma in the hospital. Then, I’m going to watch our dear friend Cole Moore race Motocross @ the Valley Extreme Sports Park in Greenville Virginia.

Make Me A Legend, Chapter 10: Build An Extravagant Foundation

It seems that we have become a foundationless generation; the evidence of this is everywhere in the flimsiness of our shabby accomplishments. “The wicked build houses as fragile as a spider’s web, as flimsy as a shelter made of branches.” (Job 27:18 NLT) As I have already mentioned, I am terrified about the future of my home nation when “American Made” is no longer a seal of international value!

Yes, we have seen tremendous recent improvement in the American auto industry, and the world seems to be glancing in our direction with a brief glimmer of enthusiasm. But we cannot let it stop here! America and the American people—we have to strip all the way down to our foundations—and re-covenant, reform, recover, repair, refresh, rebuild, and renew—this is my prayer! The Psalmist David said, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? The LORD is in His holy temple, the LORD’s throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men.” (Psalm 11:3-4 NKJV) (Emphasis added)

We have to make sure we build our lives and futures on something that will stand upright in tomorrow’s precarious world! Individually—and as a nation—“if the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” If we do not immediately and urgently repair our compromised foundation, and if we do not revitalize our founding faith, and somehow recover our founding values—then we will hurl our legacy onto a rotten platform. And the time will surely come when everything we have built and everything they will build will come crashing to the ground!

Here is what I see—in recent years, America’s foundation has been pulverized and greatly weakened from enemies lurking within our own borders. Right out in the open, our history is being rewritten—by a reckless, but influential band of godless, amoral leaders—men and women who no longer respect the enduring foundational ideals of our fathers. Even though most Americans still place a very high value on our founding faith and the morality it once created, the voice of a few is sledge-hammering away at our foundation in order to suit their own anti-American, anti-Christian beliefs. Sadly, they are stealing the minds of ignorant citizens, reducing us down to a fraction of what we once were!

God spoke a great promise through His prophet Isaiah when He said, “O afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted, I will build you with stones of turquoise, your foundations with sapphires.” (Isaiah 54:11 NIV) I claim this promise for my country and my people. Dear God, rebuild us with stones of turquoise on a foundation of sapphires! Let us shine brightly for You again as we once did—one nation under God, a City on a hill giving light to a dark and troubled world!
