Saying Goodbye To My Kids…

Happy Monday!

Today, I drive my kids to Washington DC for college. It is a year round college, meaning that once they begin I may not see them very often. My heart is broken.

John 14:27 Peace I [Jesus] leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

I pray for this peace today… not just for me, but for all of my friends who also need it. God bless you all.

  1. Thanks for sharing the pictures Chuck. I know that you will still be in constant constant communication with your kids. But it will be different. I remember realizing that when I went off to college. I think though that being away made me appreciate more what I had and helped to forge an even closer relationship to my parents. I appreciate you Chuck, and have you and Emily in my prayers. Have a great day! Dan

  2. Praying for you today. You and Em are more than welcome to hang with us anytime you want to hang out with teens! I know they aren't your kids but we will welcome your fun loving companionship! I also believe we would love to take some road trips to DC with ya too! This is going to be the beginning of a fun journey so no worries!

  3. Chuck, you and Emily have prepared them for this day; they are ready, and even though it may not feel like it…so are you. You have a beautiful, loving, close family; you and Emily have so much to be proud of. It seems like yesterday Corey and Joel were toddlers, younger than Jude, jumping on the bed at the trailer you and Emily lived in. Time goes by so quickly. I am praying for your family today and trusting God to take care of each of you. Like Vickie, the invitation is open, you and Emily are welcome to hang out with us 🙂 and hopefully one of you is good as Spades… because I have yet to beat Joel and Josh! God will also surround Heaven and Corey with strong Christian friends and everything that God has placed inside of your children will begin to blossom and spread all over the campus. I believe that they are taking the fire of God with them to DC and will experience similar things to what we are in Stuarts Draft. I love you all and am lifting you up in prayer today. Enjoy your trip on this very special day.

  4. You are all about to see an additional facet of your parent/kid relationship! It is so exciting to one day realize this new, deeper position of your hearts! To relate to your kids as "adults" is a feature soon to be activated–and you think you're proud NOW!!

Please let Coree and Heaven know that they are also loved and cheered for everyday back home at their church!

Chuck and Em, you have always been such amazing best friends to one another–I know you won't sweat it long!

As always, thank you, Pastor, for sharing your incredible life with us! I'm sure I speak for your entire blog tribe when i say that we love and pray for YOU TOO!
