Happy Wednesday!
I’m writing from the hospital this morning. My grandmother had a very bad yesterday, suffering with shortness of breath… it looks like she’ll be here for a few more days. Don’t stress, we prayed a very powerful prayer and she’s on her way to recovery. She’s such a beautiful person!
I bought her the coolest stuffed animal. It’s a medium sized sheep with a beautiful coat of fur… she named him, Mops. (smile)
Taking Charge Of Your World
Do you ever feel like an abused mouse on a wheel, running and panting, sometimes without a perceptible degree of progress?
Sadly, this is the predicament of so many people in todays world. Most of us are so overcommitted, that it only takes a tiny piece of straw to “break the camels back”.
Am I describing your predicament?
If so, then why?
Why are you letting life control you like this? Why do I sometimes let my life control me like this?
I think it’s because we all want to accomplish so much and make a big difference for so many people, and too often…
We bite off more than we can chew.
Trust me… this blog is coming from the busiest person you may ever meet. I am the expert at biting off more than I can chew… and most of the time, I miraculously swallow it all down. Every bite!
Yet, I’m positive that God is far more glorified in our lives when we better regulate our commitments.
Really, you should be able to say no (often when necessary) without feeling guilty.
To do this, you’ll have to overcome your fear of upsetting people, or letting them down.
You’re only one person. God is not pleased when your life flies out of balance. He’s saddened with your anxiety… saddened to see you so far outside of His will for your life.
Beware of those people in your world who constantly push their responsibilities to you, because they know you can handle so much.
Maybe this is one of those once in a decade moments, when you need to reassess your commitments… and reclaim charge of your daily schedule?
Make a list of everything you’re trying to accomplish. Prioritize your tasks. Delegate when possible.
Maybe you can make a few phone calls and un-commit yourself to some of your meaningless pursuits.
Make room for the most important things first.
Rest systematically. Eat healthy foods. Exercise often. Spend quality time with the special people in your life.
Enjoy this life you’ve been given… it is a gift from God.
Most of all… be who God is asking you to be. Do what God is asking you to do. Pray until you know what this is, then pray for the courage to actually do it.
Revelation 4:11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
That’s all for today. I just finished praying for you. So, make this a mot triumphant Wednesday. See some of you tonight, 7pm @ Destiny Family Center for a worship service! With much love…

Hahahahahaha!! I know this was for me today! I have this very problem often! I thank God for my hubby who helps to keep me grounded. I have people who look at my FB status and then proceed to yell at me and tell me to slow down. I sometimes just have to laugh and explain to them that "slow down" is not in my vocabulary. I always have something going on and somewhere to be. Whether it is working one of my 3 jobs, doing things with the family (my favorite!), doing Girl Scouts, helping others or just doing things at the church! I thank God for the many blessings He gives me through all this!
On a more serious note, I have learned that if we continue to get our life in Chaos and not take charge God will! He will allow things to slow us down. I have made it a goal for this year to remember it is ok to say no and not over commit! Although God has given me the ability to manage such a wonderfully full and busy lifestyle I always want to make sure that I am still keeping control of my life rather than my life controlling me!
Thank you so very much for a great reminder today Pastor!
See Ya @ 7:00 I can't wait
Excellent Blog!
“Most of all… Be who God is asking you to be. Do what God is asking you to do. Pray until you know what this is. Then pray for the courage to actually do it.”
Lately, I have heard so many people asking what God wants them to do, or what He has planned for their lives. It’s a hot topic! This morning when I read this, it hit me that if “faith in action” is key in seeing a move of God in so many other areas, why not in hearing from Him, as well?
We may not have a complete clear vision of what God wants for us personally, but His word tells us corporately– that He wants us to share the news of His love and salvation with all who do not know. This is the work of the great commission. This is His will for all of us.
Instead of praying and waiting, what if we began praying and working–toward accomplishing that great commission? God may speak to us by opening doors as we act out our faith. As we do what we know His will to be, I believe He will reveal the great things He has in store for us!
I realize I have strayed away from the theme of this blog! Have a great day–thanks again!
Kristen I love your comment this has been a hot topic! I think we all stray now and again. The one thing that made me chuckle is where you said… “of praying and waiting, what if we began praying and working–toward accomplishing that great commission?” For me I think my problem is the other way around sometimes I need to pray and wait to see what I should be doing rather than trying to do everything. lol Seriously though this is a problem. Many people would rather sit and pray (sometimes not even pray just complain) and then not do a thing to change it.
You are such an amazing woman of God! I loved reading your comments today! You are always such an encouragement to me! Love ya!
