Just about the time you are worn out telling that same story of your last deliverance, God will prophesy your next one.
If you read the Bible more than at a casual glance, you will feel the awesomeness of the omnipotent UPWARD current: a power that is perpetually thrusting God’s children higher and higher and higher.
God will never leave you where He found you. It does not matter how blessed you are right now or how blessed you have been in former days.
You have not already lived out your finest days. If you will BELIEVE AGAIN like you did in the beginning, if you will stir the stagnant fire and awaken the curiosity of what CAN be, then you will hear God saying, “Forget about the past. Stop feeding off of yesterdays miracle as if you no longer have a God! Look AHEAD with eyes of faith, for I am about to do something new.”
This is what God was saying to Israel, through the prophet Isaiah. Those people were still reciting their past blessings as if they no longer had a God… without the HOPE of something new! Read the following verses very slowly… slow enough to meditate on them. Then continue.
I am the Lord, who opened a way through the waters,
making a dry path through the sea.
I called forth the mighty army of Egypt
with all its chariots and horses.
I drew them beneath the waves, and they drowned,
their lives snuffed out like a smoldering candlewick.
But forget all that—
it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.
For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
The wild animals in the fields will thank me,
the jackals and owls, too,
for giving them water in the desert.
Yes, I will make rivers in the dry wasteland
so my chosen people can be refreshed.
To embrace the future, we have to stop holding on to yesterdays victory like THAT is the last big thing God is ever going to do for us. From 20 years of walking with God, I have learned that God will continually outdo Himself until the day we die… as long as we keep our faith attached to the promise of it!
- Some people memorialize the wrong things from their past. When they look back, all they see pain and suffering… and they spend their future screaming, “Unfair!”
- Other people live in the exaggerated re-emphasis of their past victories… and they miss a hundred next level blessings, because they have lost their faith in a God who is always capable of outdoing Himself!
I’m excited about what God has done in my life UP TO THIS POINT. When I look back into my past, my memories are etched in faith! All I see is the LORD who was THERE.
Having a memory etched in faith is very crucial to a miraculous future. It causes us to reason: If God has done it before, then He can do it again!
My emphasis in todays teaching is on the phrase, “But forget all that—it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new.”
Early in the morning, I was sitting here in my sunroom, meditating on the goodness of God in my life UP TO THIS POINT. I kind of told the Lord, “I’ve preached my greatest sermons, I’ve looked the best I’m going to look, I’m fading from my youthful zeal… maybe the world has seen the very best I have to offer them.”
And God took me to Isaiah 43 and chills went across the surface of my skin as He said,
“Forget about the past. Stop feeding off of yesterdays miracle as if you no longer have a God! Look AHEAD with eyes of faith, for I am about to do something new.”
Wooooosh! That is a Word from heaven, not just for me! This is the Word of the day and the Word of this weekend for you and for the people of Destiny Family Center. We start at 10am tomorrow morning… having another unscheduled baptism ceremony during the service!
Here’s a great video for todays blog: TobyeMac, New World.
