God’s Favor-Get It Now & Keep It Forever!

Happy Tuesday!

I’m feeling very hyper this morning. It’s 10am and I’ve already had what some would deem a highly eventful day! Had a powerful early morning prayer/worship/Bible routine. Drove Emily to work and came to Starbucks. Wrote an inspirational interview paper about Pastoral Ministry for a student at Liberty University. Had an electrifying brainstorming session with a friend about his business. Interpreted a lively dream for one of the newest Christians in my life. Had a very productive phone meeting with my assistant Kristin Via. Things are happening, people are being significantly transformed right in front of my eyes. Life is very good this morning!

This past Sundays 10am service at Destiny Family Center left a new fire burning in my heart. I’ve decided to raise the standard in my own life again! Made a new commitment to become the greatest version of myself that I can become by the end of this prophetic season. When God whispered in my ear, “I’m giving you more favor than you’ve ever known,” I believed Him! I’m going for it!!

Favor is a real force. One real touch of Gods favor can change everything for a person, ministry, business, nation, etc.

In the Bible, rain represented FAVOR to the farmer. God spoke about FAVOR through the prophet Zechariah when he said, “Ask the Lord for rain in the spring, for he makes the storm clouds. And he will send showers of rain so every field becomes a lush pasture.” (Zechariah 10:1-2 NLT)

Since the crops could not grow without rain, God was saying through his prophet, “Ask me for rain (ask me for favor) in the season of rain (in the season of favor) and I will send MY FAVOR so that every field becomes a lush pasture!”

There is no doubt about it. This is a SPRING time in my life. It might be winter in Virginia, but this is the season of FAVOR for me personally, for the people of Destiny Family Center, and for the people of this blog tribe! I want to have the prophetic instinct to ASK FOR FAVOR IN THIS TIME OF FAVOR! Thank God I do, and I am. You should do the very same thing!

When we pray for the thing that God already wants to do in our lives, our prayer is more than a request, it is a prophecy! Wooooosh! Read that again.

Moses said to the LORD, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.” (Exodus 33:12-13 NIV) (Emphasis added)

Favor comes and favor goes. Favor increases and decreases depending on many factors. Moses wanted to lengthen his season of favor. Therefore he asked, “Teach me your WAYS so that I may KNOW YOU and CONTINUE to FIND FAVOR with you.”

Over the past 20 years, I have learned a few things about favor. Moses is so right! One of the surest ways to find favor with God is to walk closely with Him. While Israel knew the ACTS of God, Moses knew the WAYS of God. Moses was undisputedly, God’s closest friend from his generation!

I don’t want my life to be the product of muscle and mind. I want to walk so closely with God that He will teach me His ways and I will know Him and continue in HIS FAVOR! I’m not just saying that I want to change the world… I plan to do it!

Wow you guys… read this message ten times and you’ll flip out with PASSION!

Your thoughts?

Here is a song for this moment: CitiPoint Worship, Commission My Soul.

Just like every morning, I prayed for you very passionately. I sincerely hope you feel the difference all day long.

With much love…

  1. Good morning my friend! I just wanted you to know that I had a good morning this morning…and after reading this blog, your enthusiasm seems rather contagious…I am finding myself so interested and so inclined to rediscover what is at the root of my whole being(my heart, my will and my emotions)…like a builder wanting to build a house, the lot needs to be cleared and satisfy all state and fed regulations in order to construct and operate successfully.

Nevertheless, this whole blog reminds me of an whole hymn I was just singing to myself last night…Lord prepare me…to be a sanctuary…pure and holy…tried and true…with thanksgiving…I'll be a living…sanctuary…Lord for you

  2. I'm thankful there's no tally of how many good deeds or how much energy and emotion we spend to earn it. All we have to do is ask and stay in tune with him. 🙂

    Favor happens,

  3. I agree Mel! I am sooooo glad we don't have to earn His favor!!! How AWESOME is our God that all He wants is us!! He gives us everything in return!! I have watched God's favor over and over in my life (of course some times more than others) and I pray that I will never get to the point that I take it for granted!!

  4. When we pray for the thing that God already wants to do in our lives, our prayer is more than a request, it is a prophecy! Wooooosh! Read that again.

Seriously! That is amazing! Speak it into existence. Thank you for sharing this. I pray His favor over you continues throughout this season.

  6. I have been praying the favor of God over my husband, my kids and my family for while now, especially this morning. So it is no coincidence that I have not been on the blog or FB for over a month and the first blog I read is about God's favor. Wow! In December, my family went through one of the hardest times we have ever been through. For the first time, I understood the true meaning of "empty". I literally felt hollow and had to completely live off of the faith I have in and the presence of God. I have never experienced that kind of brokeness. But through that, I have learned the value of honoring my family and being the praying wife and mother I should've been all along. Thanks for being a willing vessel of Christ and for being a man after God's own heart!

  7. Oh, and another thing I forgot about. Just last week Charlie had asked me to retrieve something out of his wallet for him. I never go into his wallet because I never really need anything out of it. I was getting a receipt he had aksed me to get and found written on a small piece of paper the lyrics to the chorus of "Commission My Soul". Wow! The fact that you chose that song for the Favor of God blog and the fact that I have been praying for God's favor and found that song in his wallet….WOW! God is at work here!

  8. Love this song thanks for adding it to this message.

May we all go out and reach the lost!!!!

May we all be like Moses and learn God's ways in a deeper sense than we ever have.

  9. I was searching for biblical literatures on God's favor and I found your blog and I felt that was just the answers to my prayers. I am in a situation where I do not know what to do but the only thing I am waiting for is God's favor. As Ruth who found favor at Boaz eyes and got everything she probaly ever wished for; I believe God's favors can change the times and the circumstances in my life.

I am confident that my God is able and He will confort His children's hearts. Amen! Thanks again for sharing your blessings; that is certainly inspiring.
