The Story of a Young Lady…

Happy Weekend!

Here is a song we’ve been playing at our nightly prayer meetings. It’s changing my life this morning (Friday), so I’m giving it to the world. United Pursuit Band, Break Every Chain.

Let me know how you feel after listing to this song 5 or 6 times!

There is power in the name of Jesus
There is power in the name of Jesus
There is power in the name of Jesus
To break every chain
To break every chain
To break every chain

All sufficient sacrifice
So freely given
Such a price bought
Our redemption
Heaven’s gates swing wide

There’s an army rising up
There’s an army rising up
There’s an army rising up
There’s an army rising up
To break every chain
To break every chain
To break every chain (4x)

There’s power in the Name of Jesus

The Story of a Young Lady…

As you’ve heard, we’ve had 270 people give their lives to Jesus at Destiny Family Center over the past 4 months. Last night was a significant moment in this continuing revival.

There is a young man who gave his life to Christ on day one of the breakout. He was addicted to drugs and hopelessly drifting to a point of no return. His transformation was sudden and undeniable. His story spread, along with other stories… until hundreds just like him have found a new life in Christ! God is doing the lyrics to the song above, “There is power in the name of Jesus… to break every chain, break every chain, break every chain.”

This young man had a girlfriend. She was a notorious lost soul just like him. She covered her eyes and backed into the darkness as he raced into the light. She had never been to church a day in her life, didn’t understand what was happening in her ex boyfriends heart and mind.

While she faded into the night, the young man prayed for her, sometimes wondering if he would ever see the miracle of his prayers. When the night fell and all the new Christians gathered to pray, the young man would be found at times, praying for his lost friends… and praying for his lost love, often with tears.

Last week was almost the end of the road for this young lady. The chains were tightened around her neck and wrists and ankles. Something was pulling her down, she felt helpless to escape from its grip. She will have to describe those few days in her own words, when the time is right.

Anything is Possible

On this past Saturday night, I was teaching the new Christians at prayer meeting, to never say, “Impossible!” The young man was inspired to send a text to his ex young lady. We all prayed before he sent that text. We believed that something was going to HAPPEN.

It Almost Happened

She came to church on Sunday morning-for the very first time in her life. Her heart was strangely warmed. She just about moved toward the light, was going to raise her hand and run to the place where LOVE flashed out. During those few seconds, there was a hesitation, then the presence of a strong evil force. She felt chained to her chair and heard a voice say to her, “Do not raise your hand!” So she did not raise her hand.

Then It Happened

A few more days passed and who will ever comprehend the battle that ensued for the life of this young lady. Last night, she came to her first prayer meeting with the young man. She sat and listened as we prayed. The night was powerful. I glanced over from time to time, and watched as he read to her from the Bible. The atmosphere was heavenly… the kind of moment when one says to himself, “Anything is possible tonight.”

The meeting ended. I walked over to her and said, “I bet we freaked you out with our passion.” She looked back at me with tears glazing over the surface of her eyes. She responded with so much humility, “No, I feel like something is happening to me. I feel warm and happy. I want a change in my life.”

I invited the two of them back to my office. As soon as the door closed behind us, the young lady said to me, “I’ve been so angry and lost, there is something in me that’s destroying my life and I want this out of me. I want the love that I feel right now to be in my heart forever.”

At 20 years old, she told me that she had never been to church before, that she didn’t know anything about God, but that she KNEW that He was real and that He was reaching into her life! She asked some of the greatest questions I’ve ever been asked about salvation. I spent the next 45 minutes making God’s plan of salvation very clear to her.

We all watched the following video from a friend of mine in Houston, Texas.

Ashley Phillips from Global Church on Vimeo.

After the video, I said to this young lady, “What God did for Ashley Phillips, He wants to do for you. Would you like to give your life to Jesus tonight?” There was no hesitation in her voice when she said, “Yes, I would.” And right there in my office, on the light brown leather couch where so many others have prayed before, the young lady turned her whole life over to Jesus. Every chain was broken, the light and love of God came down. The moment was so moving, I cried when I was praying with her!!

So, there you have it. The Story of a Young Lady-Never Say, “Impossible!”

Your thoughts?

I hope this message inspires a hundred more miracles just like it. Have a most triumphant day everyone. Just like every morning, I just finished praying for you and I sincerely hope you feel the difference all day long.

With much love…

  1. There is NOTHING more important than this. No matter what things we are facing, no matter where we are located on this planet, NOTHING is more important than that moment, that transition, that LIGHT.

In the beginning, God spoke, LIGHT was suddenly a reality, and darkness scrambled away. Every one of us has an "in the beginning"…

What a beautiful story! What an honor to witness LIGHT and love rush in to save even one person from darkness! Thank you Jesus for thousands more!

  2. "12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: 13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us." Ephesians 2:12-14

What an awesome reminder to all of us who are saved of where we once were. Praise God for this young woman's new life in Christ. Praying that God would have His hand so much on her that she can win many to Him.

I've reread this a dozen times and I'm so moved…so convicted. Jesus wants to work in all of our lives–He wants to live through us and often He cannot because we won't let Him. Oh man, that's been me more times than I'd like to admit. I love the line in the song about "I wanna partner with you Jesus" …that is exactly what we are. Partners, ambassadors for Christ. We are His hands and feet to show a lost and dying world the truth.

    • Wow Emily… I've actually gone back here to read this blog several times today! It was too wonderful for words. I can't even begin to imagine how God is going to work through this young lady over the next many years. I feel like I have an endless bucket of buttered popcorn and I'm getting ready to watch the movie of my LIFE! I love also, how you related this message to your own life… and you speak of your desire to partner with God in a much deeper way than you ever have before. Me too!! 🙂

  3. I Love Ashley's story, it touched me its a great example of God's compassionate Love!! Nothing is too difficult for the!!

Your message on Wed. evening has changed some of my old ways of thinking. My vocabulary is changing too, I now see what a negative spin words and phrases can put on conversation. I can picture God standing in front of us holding blessings, miracles, and salvation's, just waiting for a little more faith in him to release them.

The other day I had an opportunity arise, a potential life changing answer to prayer!! I started to think, this can't be real, why would I believe it could actually happen? I felt a peaceful but a happy revelation! Like a switch in my mind I suddenly figured out the phrase 'too good to be true' is a lie!! Why wouldn't he do what we ask if we have faith in him? The one who made blind eyes see and lame people walk is capable of ANYTHING! I think it must be the saddest thing for him to want to help and answer our prayers and then we say something that completely contradicts what we are taught 'That ALL things are possible'.

    Mel 🙂

    • Mel, so true… the only thing standing between us and the miracles we are destined to have is our own inability to BELIEVE, and then ACT on our beliefs.

  4. As I read this again with Pastor's remarks as well, I am reminded of the disciple who once said, "Father, help my unbelief".

…and once again, thanks for your blog ministry here online…we may be down to Stuarts Draft sooner than you think 🙂

  5. WOW, all I can say is WOW. I had the opertunity to talk to that lady at your house last nite and she was a completely different person. It was awsome to see the joy of the lord all over her face. she really is a different person and still i'm in aw of the wounds that GOD's love can heal. glory to god. amen.

    • I know, right! She is SO CHANGED! It's one thing to see someone pray the prayer… yet, it's another thing to see them still BLAZING two days later… and then ten days later… then 1 year and 10 years later! This girl is for REAL! It's UNBELIEVABLE! 🙂

  6. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement! God is so unbelievably AWESOME. I am constantly blown away by His perfect love and the abundance of grace and mercy He has given me…I deserve none of it. Chuck, thank you for your constant prayers and encouragement. God is doing BIG things! Stoked to be a part of it! Your sister in Christ, Ash God bless you!

    • Ashley, the young lady came to Church on Sunday morning… absolutely a different person! To God be the glory for sure. Thank you for assisting with that HUGE score! God bless you with a another great week. I am praying about all of the things you asked me to pray about. Hope you feel the difference! 🙂

  7. Reading your comment…. I feel the prayers!!! God is pouring out so much on me it's almost unbearable! lol I actually literally prayed and asked Him to slow down! lol Thank you. Lots of change. Good things!

    • I'm so about to read your messages Ashley! The young lady in this blog has now been to church for three weeks in a row… and yesterday, she brought her dad and three of her sisters. One of her sisters came forward and gave her life to Christ at the end of my message! The other two sisters were children's church age and they went to Kidz Krib. The young lady's dad is a Christian and she does not live with him… and God is HEALING their relationship! Brings me to tears. 🙂

  8. Wow, I had to read this again and then I read through the new comments and Praise God for the work that God is doing in all of their lives. I will continue to pray:)
