Enough!! (Change Begins With a New Attitude)

How much longer are you going shrink back into the corners in fear? You’ve been neglected, abused, and physiologically beaten into subservience. Your self esteem is gone. Your resolve is lost and your dreams are shattered. You feel guilty for this failure, deserving of your misery.

That’s exactly how he wants you to feel.

Yes, he.

Who is he?

He is the darkness. He is the thief. He is the devil. He is your great enemy.

“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

“For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

Life has been harsh and bitter, so much more than you can endure, you are at a breaking point. You want to cry, but crying stopped working a long time go.

Some people have advised you to sit back down and say nothing, do nothing… just as you’ve done for most of your life. You’re tempted to comply, but you fear that you might not have another day left in you.

Is God condemning you to a future of punishment for the wrong turns in your past? Is He asking you to settle with things as they are? Is he requesting your tolerance?

No, God is not.

Tolerance is killing you.

Merriam Webster defines tolerance as “the capacity of the body to endure or become less responsive to a substance (e.g., a drug) or to a psychological insult, with repeated use or exposure.”

Modern Christians have become less and less responsive to the moral and spiritual deterioration in our nation and world. For more than fifty years, we have hidden behind a gutless banner of passive resistance. Instead of overcoming the evil sectors of our government—and our educational system, economy, entertainment industry, etc., we have become less responsive, almost unresponsive with repeated use and exposure. This didn’t happen overnight. We have been trained to submit. Instead of transforming our culture, we are conforming to it. We should be fighting hard to save our cities, holding up a flag of enduring standard, and facing a little persecution along the way. Instead, we have relinquished our influence to the louder, eviler voices. -Make Me a Legend

Most people only rise when they reach a breaking point! The defining moment comes when one provoked renegade clambers up to his feet, stills his shaking knees, and heralds out his brave rally cry, “That’s it! I will not live like this anymore! Life doesn’t have to be this way! There is a much better way! I am absolutely convinced about this and I am going after it today! Can I count you in?” -Make Me a Legend

Is this your breaking point? Is this that defining moment, when you say, “I’m going to my enemies camp and I am taking back LIFE!”

Change begins with a new attitude.

Watch this video.

In the Bible, there is a story of David returning home from a military operation only to find that his family and possessions had been taken away by a band of raiders. Just like most people do in similar circumstances, David wept out loud until he could weep no more. Then he “encouraged himself in the Lord,” through prayer and worship… and he asked God what he should do.

Then David asked the Lord, “Should I chase after this band of raiders? Will I catch them?” And the Lord told him, “Yes, go after them. You will surely recover everything that was taken from you!” (1 Samuel 30:8)

Maybe todays blog is a prophetic message for you. Maybe God is saying to you, “Enough is enough! Yes, you should chase your enemy! For you will surely recover everything that was taken from you!

Just like every morning, I prayed for you with tremendous passion. I sincerely hope you feel the difference all day long.

Have a great day everyone!

With much love…

  1. Pastor this is outstanding. We all have gotten to the point where we have stopped changing our world and started to conform to it. Making exceptions for people just because we don't want to hurt anyones feeling. HELLO!! People it's time to stand up and be the Christians we are called to be. Did Jesus conform…. NO! We should be more and more Christ Like daily in our life. It's time for us as a community and a generation to STAND UP reguardless of the cost and do what is right. Don't keep being a pansy christian and stand up and fight!!

  2. thank you for writing this blog. this comes to me at a great time. i go back to the doctors this morning to find out about some recent test results. the waiting period is always the hardest especially when we want instant results. who wouldn't want to know the test results, except those that fear the worse…well, for me, i just wanted some answers to a question i kept asking doctors a long time ago, something is not right…after several visits to the doctors and eventually to er, a foreign doctor who barely spoke english listened to me with an ear to learn about my dilema and my belief in God…it was a moment when fear and anticipation came together and gave me the motivation to be both determined and persistant…what a didn't know when i was talking to this er doctor, was this: it created an awakening and became a moment of truth in my spirit that would later become the catalyst to drive me closer to God in a way like never before…i am misunderstood, but so much closer to God…the mystery behind my ongoing illness has behooved me to learn about God and complex issues of the human mind, heart and nature…so much so, that i refuse to be passive and compromising in what i believe…today, i am much more affirmative and much less a people pleaser…but do not get it wrong, i am humanistic and still have flaws to be worked on…

    • This is your year to rise from all of that Christine. I'm praying for you, believing that your whole life will take an upward turn! Seize the day. 🙂

  3. Now that is what I'm talking about! I was just listening to a song called, "Enough is Enough". Some of the words are:

"Too long this has gone on, Satan, this means war. I'm putting my armour on, you won't rob me like before. Enough is enough, I'm coming to get my stuff. I'm taking everything back that you stole from me."

The warrior in me loves this blog! Whoooo! Go Pastor!

With each chapter of your book you edit, God is editing you. Refining, sharpening, so that when people read you, they can't help but desire change! And that when people read your book, the words on each page will permeate the soul and cause radical transformation so that they too want to become a legend!

  4. "The defining moment comes when one provoked renegade clambers up to his feet, stills his shaking knees, and heralds out his brave rally cry, “That’s it! I will not live like this anymore!"

Man, Chuck, last fall I had a one of those "defining moments" where I just snapped and went off on the devil (holy wrath haha), so tired of having been dragged down by certain situations. It honestly set me free in a way and I can remember the exact spot on 340 when it happened as I was driving home that night.

Truly there is power in the verse from James 4:7:

"Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you."

It was not long after this when I started up my blog site. 🙂

    • Joe! Where did that quote come from? I love it!! I know I haven't told you in a while, but I am SO honored to be your Pastor. Your heart and character… wow! 🙂

  5. This week I was reading in the book of Acts and this passage stuck out to me about Saul's conversion. I see why now.

Before Saul met Jesus, he was killing Christians (a really bad dude) but God had chosen him to know HIS will (vs 14) and that Saul would now become Paul and be HIS witness to all men of the things that God will tell him to do and say.

Paul was told back in verse 10 (Acts 22) "Arise and GO into Damascus, and there you will be told all things which are appointed for you to do".

Notice that Paul didn't allow Satan's voice to enter into this equation. He obeyed God. He heard the voice of God and obeyed.

I see this as a valuable lesson for us all. We all need to pray more, learn to discern the voice of God and then Obey Him.

  6. You are right! Tolerance is settling, I just can't do that. I don't need another project, I needed to read this. This was for me. I just can't settle anymore. The confusion seems to be a major issue with so many people in my situation. We are blind to it for so long until someone helps us see the truth.

  7. Today's blog has been on my mind as I have went about my day today and here I am again. I must say today's culture has gotten too far away from family values and we must bring them back if we are going to change the world!

Parents need to step up and be parents again! We need to hold tight to our boundaries and morals and standards and hold them up to the word of God.

This is what I think of when I hear the word tolerence. Parents need to enforce what is allowed and tolerated and stick to it.

What shows are your kids watching? Movies? Music? Tolerence? No! Call me old fashioned, mean fud dud, whatever but that's the rules. Like it or lose it.

  8. Thanks Pastor, we are no where near perfect models but we do try our best to do what is right and to teach our kids in every situation. It's our first priority in life. God has given us 2 souls that we are responsible for and we will be held accountable for what we pour into them first and foremost. Yes, He does lead, guide and direct us to do other things in this life and we do but we always have to keep check on our first priority and NEVER lose sight of that most important mission.

I think the world today has lost sight of what God has placed in front of them as Parents. Maybe they themselves were never taught what it means to be a parent. I in no way am trying to sound judgmental or playing the blame game. Every person's life has taken different paths. We all do the best that we can.

I had this conversation recently with a young adult who discussed what he thought has happened to today's society. Look around, our society has too many kids (young adults) who do not know how to cook, keep or get a job, get up on time for appointments, general life planning skills.

What are we (adults) doing to change this? Are we enabling them or are we actively doing something to change the pattern?

For us, like you talked here it's about tolerance. It's about what changes and what does not. I don't want to mention specific movies here or TV shows but I will tell you our home does not tolerate or promote the popular fads. Never did, even when the kids were little. There was cartoons we didn't watch in our home. We had good reasons. We taught our kids as to why, same now with whatever we feel is not acceptable.

Thanks for letting me get on my soapbox!

  10. Enough is enough. We have become that little kid on the playground that gets poked and harassed. It’s time for us to step out of that insane content life and pursue a life where we are fulfilled fully. There is nothing greater than walking in the path God has provided is with. Some people just need to be shaken a little!!!
