Pursue a Better Dream!

Happy Thursday!

Are you truly happy with your life these days? Do you love your job, your hobbies and routines, and the area where you are living? Do you feel close with God… and with all the special people in your circle?

Certainly, life has it’s challenges no matter where you live or how perfectly at the center of God’s plan you may be. Surely, there are times when you must embrace the repetitious boredom associated with incremental progress.

My question goes deeper than how you’re feeling today or even this week. Think about what I’m asking and honestly answer the question… just between you and God, you don’t have to tell another soul? Do you wake up each morning refreshed from the day before and optimistic about where you’re heading in life, or do you wake up with a spirit of heaviness, dreadful about another day in the same old rut?

There is always time to pursue a better dream. If you don’t like your current “job” or “career path,” get a new one. Figure out what really makes you tick, what really excites you more than anything else… and find a way to shift your life in that direction!

I’m not asking you to flee from the responsibility (the blood, sweat, and tears side) of your life calling. Definitely, there is a high degree of sacrifice associated with every worthwhile dream. There is a bloody cross before every resurrection!

But there is GRACE for every cross… God’s strength and God’s JOY despite the pain of tribulation. When you are in the plan, there is GRACE. When you are not in the plan, there is personal collapse.

How will you know that you are right in the middle of God’s intended purpose for your life? When you don’t have to take a vacation to get away from your terrible life.

All I’m asking you to do right now is ask yourself a few questions and then pray for a few answers.

  1. If you could live without limits, what would you do with your life?
  2. What are your three biggest talents?
  3. What three things are you currently doing that you are not good at, and you have no desire to get good at?
  4. What’s stopping you from pursuing a better dream?
  5. If you did pursue a better dream, how would you get from here to there in three steps?
  6. If you did pursue a better dream, how long would it take to get there?
  7. How are other people or past experiences causing you to hesitate?
  8. What are three negative consequences for not acting on your better dream?
  9. What are three benefits for acting on your better dream?
  10. What is God saying to you through this assignment?

Find the things you love to do, the specific things you were created to do… and do whatever it takes to spend your life doing those things!

This doesn’t necessarily mean a geographical relocation, a divorce, or a radical career change. It just means that NOW is the time to stop letting life happen TO YOU and start to live your life MORE ON PURPOSE than ever before!

Romans 12:4-8 NLT “Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.”

I’m praying for you every day, even on the days I’m not able to post a blog. Please don’t ever stop praying for me. Though I am on the brink of something very big, I am faced with challenges too gruesome for the blog. Your love and support really do make the difference. I love you all…

Dream Big, Live Bold, and Leave a Legacy!

  1. Wow, you really gave some great questions to think about. I guess with my life, I'm slowly starting to take some baby steps towards my goal…but I won't know for awhile if it's something I can actually do or not. I'm letting God be the one in control (or at least trying to), and if this is what He wants, it will work out.

    • Shelley, I can feel the excitement in your words… and I am praying for you tonight! You’re a blessing to so many people, I’m positive that God desires to do SO much more with you!! 🙂

  2. To My Fellow Blog Brothers and Sisters:

After going through some things in life that made my journey seem lonesome, dark, and as uncertain as an baby turtle traveling through a tunnel( much longer than the Holland Tunnel in NYC loaded with rush hour traffic), I arrived to this point in my life with a clearer understanding of God and His methodology (His way of doing things)… I come to better understand God in a whole new light…I come to better understand the verse that reads, "grieve not the Holy Spirit"…I come to understand some things that I did not see and understand to any great length like a person who never knew that he or she really needed glasses or that they needed to be a greater strength to help the human eye see what they need to be able to see and distinguish…Amazing Grace…how sweet the sounds…

  3. Dude! Thank you for this one. It helps put life in proper perspective. Nobody is forcing us to stay where we are. Sometimes I need to be reminded I'm not stuck. Thanks Chuck. I'll be reflecting on this all day.

    • Jake, true that bud! You are NOT stuck, you are free like a spring birdie… free to FLY, free to soar! I'm happy to be assisting with your advanced flight training… having a blast with you guys. Have a happy day. 🙂

  4. Beautiful blog, Pastor Chuck! It seems God created you to inspire people. You do it so well. God bless you, Pastor. I'll be praying for you…see ya Sunday! 🙂

  5. Wow! These questions are something that I've been thinking about too. Thank you for putting them into words. I hope everyone can read this blog, its valuable.

I'm getting there. I really am. I'm blessed to have people in my life that remind me to slow down and ask what God wants for me. In this season I'm learning to say no to swimming in projects and commitments here and there that aren't a part of my dream or beneficial to my families walk with God. I'm learning to rest in him:)

  6. Wow! Great post and awesome questions to really think about and pray about! Thanks for the encouragement Chuck and I will definitely be praying for God to give you wisdom in your next big decision!

    • Lexi, your ministry is unbelievable! Would love to connect in the future to help you help people. Keep smiling, you are making a gigantic difference!! 🙂

    • By the way, I've been to Uganda-Kampala… had 10,000 people in our 3rd night meeting-thousands came to Christ and other great things happened for the people there! I plan to return someday.
