A Squirrel, A Robin’s Nest, and a Lesson About Terrorism.

Happy Tuesday!

This morning, I watched a heartless squirrel invade a peaceful robin’s nest… and annihilate the babies in a matter of seconds.

The mom and dad robins put up the best fight they had, flying high, then diving at this agent of terror, squawking and flapping… they repeated the routine several times as the squirrel raced down the tree and into the back woods with one or two peeping chicks between his grinding teeth!

Last year, I watched a blue jay capture a live adult robin and fly him from one tree to another, then back into the woods, while the weaker robin resisted to no avail.

My heart is broken for these robins, the most peaceful birds in my back yard habitation… yet they are facing annihilation by these violent creatures of terror.

Where is my pellet gun? I’m infuriated when bloodthirsty rodents (and birds who prey on their own species) take innocent lives… IN MY BACKYARD!

I wonder if this is how God feels when radical Islamic terrorist organizations feed on the innocent babies of the world? I wonder if this is how God feels when bloodthirsty extremists vow for the annihilation of Jews and Americans?

This mornings squirrel invasion of the robin’s nest made me think about how it must be for so many Israeli’s today. As radical Islamic leaders (like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) are developing nuclear bomb capability and vowing to “wipe Israel off the map,” my heart breaks for my jewish allies.

I am pro-Israel. God is pro-Israel.

Jeremiah 31:3 Long ago the Lord said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.

Zechariah 2:6-9 The Lord says, “Come away! Flee from Babylon in the land of the north, for I have scattered you to the four winds. Come away, people of Zion, you who are exiled in Babylon!” After a period of glory, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies sent me against the nations who plundered you. For he said, “Anyone who harms you harms my most precious possession. I will raise my fist to crush them, and their own slaves will plunder them.” Then you will know that the Lord of Heaven’s Armies has sent me.

Genesis 12:2-3 I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”

In our attempt to follow the teaching of Christ and “love our enemies,” we must never stop defending the innocent people of our nation and world. As a nation, it is good for us to stand against terror like we have. Thought there are casualties and the war on terror seems to be never ending… to do nothing is to concede our world to tyranny and oppression.

Proverbs 31:8-9 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.

According to biblical prophesy (Ezekiel 38 & 39), God is going to pull out His pellet gun at some point. Until that day, I will side with Israel in wholehearted alliance… and I pray that my country (and other Israeli allies) will do the same, and other countries will join us. (photo by Charles Johnson)

This is my blog for the day. I hope it inspires you in a many ways! Pray for Israel, speak good of her people. Pray for victory in the war on terror… recommit yourself to pray for every nation standing on the side of freedom. Pray for a change of heart in the terrorist leaders and followers. Pray for the victims and their family’s… for all of the suffering, grieving ROBIN’S throughout the world today.

I just finished praying for everyone in my social network. I wish you a most triumphant day! With much love…

Dream Big, Live Bold, and Leave a Legacy,

Chuck Balsamo

  1. We've got a pellet rifle here that could solve your squirrel problem lol. if the 'terrorist menace' comes back, let me know and i'll hop on over and 'defend the innocent' lol

  2. Isn't it funny how we look at a "cute little squirrel" and say, "Aww, isn't it cute"; or we hear a "sweetly singing bird" and say, "Doesn't that sound nice". But our minds change when we see how savage they can be. That's how it is with terrorists. They look innocent and talk sweet, yet they commit violent acts on their own species…other humans. Just like the birds and squirrels, terrorists are about us everyday and we don't see their callous hearts because they have learned how to appear harmless, when in fact they are cold blooded killers. It's like when a squirrel dashes out in front of your car…you swerve and hope to miss the little gray furball. Well, we have been conditioned to "swerve and miss" terrorism…oh, just swerve around the truth that is right in our faces and maybe we will miss the wrath of the next attackers. But we all know that's not so. They will continue to attack, maybe in more subtle ways, until we are edged out of the nest, taken into the forest and left for dead. This is why we must prepare ourselves by putting on the spiritual armour and the physical armour. We must be lead by knowledge, wisdom and be well educated on the protection of our rights/freedoms. We must pray for Israel and support her like a daughter. We should love her and develop a heart that breaks for her. May God be near to the people of Israel and shake a slumbering church to a new level of glory, where we cry out for Israel and for our own nation. We must also pray for the terrorists that God will change their hearts and minds because Jesus died for them too. It may be a prayer that most people would never pray, but we must not become callous like they are. They are a soul, a living being that needs Jesus, although most are so far removed from the truth they have a reprobate mind. But if they are alive, there is still hope. And when they are dead, that's one less terrorist on the Earth, but one more soul in Hell.

  3. I couldn’t agree more! I bet that is what God feels like when he sees all the innocent blood that is shed because of terrorist acts! I too am PRO-ISREAL! I hope that this blog inspires even more people to stand and intercede! Thanks for such another great blog!

  4. Let not your heart be troubled. These things must come to pass. Ever think, WHY you were born WHEN you were born? Why in America?

I'm thanking God for custom fitting me for some purpose, at such a time as this…to be in the world to make a difference… right now… if only to intercede, as if my one prayer tipped the scale.

The time is now, later than it's ever been 🙂

  5. Wisdom is a necessity in life. Yet, we often overlook it. A nurse knows how to find a persons pulse, but do we know how to find wisdom without being selfish, biased or impulsive…being humble is learned and necessary.

  6. I see this like Kristin does. I know I was born into this world and placed on God's timeline to pray and intercede for Israel.

As for your squirrels, our yard is squirrel free by EARLY SPRING! I know they are very dumb creatures but I really do believe word has spread in this neighborhood to NOT enter this fence or ELSE! A few has tried but they don't make it out alive. Our golden retriever doesn't chase to kill but she loves to "play" with them and just doesn't understand why the squeaking noise stops after she throws them up in the air a few times! You are welcome to borrow Halae if need be. Her presence I am sure will scare them off.

  7. I am pro Israel too. I would love to visit there someday also, but as long as there are wars and fighting in that area, I probably won’t be going.
