Give The Gift Of A Defining Moment!

Happy Thursday!

Last night I was at Crossroads Community Church in Cincinnati Ohio with my dear friend Dan Hendricks. They played the following song in their worship set… and it was unbelievable! I would have never imagined this song for a live worship gathering, but it had a profound impact on the few thousand people in attendance last night.

You Make beautiful Things, by the band Gungor

Lyrics:

All this pain
I wonder if I’ll ever find my way
I wonder if my life could really change at all
All this earth
Could all that is lost ever be found
Could a garden come up from this ground at all

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

All around
Hope is springing up from this old ground
Out of chaos life is being found in You

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

One Lady’s Unexpected Defining Moment

Right before the song was played, music director Josh Seurkamp made a compelling appeal to the people, “Maybe you’re here tonight and you don’t feel like you’re beautiful to anyone… maybe you don’t feel like your beautiful to God… maybe you feel unwanted… and you can’t find any real meaning to your life right now. God has a furious love for you… and He wants to reveal that love to you right now.”

Josh asked these people to stand up, and many did. A lady beside of me was already wiping away her tears as she stood up tall in that Crossroads sanctuary.

We were asked to place our hand on the people who were standing near us, so I did. It was like electricity as I prayed for this broken lady. I bet she had no idea, when she left for church last night, that her life was going to take a sudden turn in the right direction! God is longing to do this (what he did for that humble lady) for every person on the face of the earth!

Then it hit me. This is my highest life mission: To give a billion people THAT defining moment!

If you’re reading this message and you feel like the woman from Crossroads Community Church last night, play the video and let the band Gungor sing that song over you. Please it again and again if you have to. God makes beautiful things… out of the dust… out of us.

With much love,

Dream Big, Live Bold, and Make the Difference!

Chuck Balsamo

  1. Such a great blog! I have been having a really tough time lately. I’ve felt so unimportant, undervalued, sad, alone and just insecure for a while now. So yesterday, the phone rang. When I looked at the caller i.d., this is what I saw: the word “Important” and a phone # underneath. I almost cried. When I showed Charlie, he said, “God did that just for you, ya know.” So He used my phone to tell me I was important b/c my spirit-woman is weak and can’t hear clearly, so He gave me a visual/technological manifestation of His love:) Wow!

  2. Wow Brandy, God definitely does things like that to send us His love. You have tremendous value to Him and to your family, and church family… and to ME and to so many other people. I’m so happy that you read this blog… and I’m even happier that it touched your life. Love you. 🙂

  3. Powerful! I’ve heard this song a dozen times but for some reason today it was much more meaningful. Easy to forget that He can make something beautiful again when everything falls apart. Never thought, at forty years of age, that I’d be homeless and dealing with the tremendous challenges that I am currently facing. Yet He keeps bringing beauty out of it all … enabling me to encourage other people (across the globe) – with a deeper compassion than I ever would have had if I didn’t experience these things. Right song at the right time today. Thanks for sharing Chuck.

    • Zenobia, I did not know that you were without a home until now. Just wanted you to know that I’m praying for you this morning… that God will inspire the right people and circumstances around you… to start things moving in a new direction. Rock bottom is a painful place, but also the bedrock of your new beginning. With God, all things are possible… and suddenly, everything can change. Keep smiling and keep shining for Christ. God is using you in these hard times. Thanks for commenting on the blog… you’re a blessing to us. Have a very good Sunday! 🙂

  4. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. Brandy, When I started reading this I thought of you because of what I had read on your fb about how you had been feeling. I was going to send you this link but I see you beat me to it! I pray this helps you:) Love you!
