Uncage Your Soul & Worship God Like You Really Want To!

Happy Wednesday!

Here is a phenomenal older song, recently sung at a national youth worship event. We Are Hungry. (update: Jesus Culture pulled the video, so I posted the next best version I could find.)

This song describes how I feel right now… HUNGRY!

There is something in our DNA that longs for God, it craves intimacy with Him, it thrives in worship. I envision it like the final scene from City of Angels, when the angels are gathered on the sand at the edge of ocean, with their faces to the sunlight… as if the light was being collected into their cells.

Our heart craves the light! And when we go too long without it, we grope along like blind people, feeling our way like creatures of the dark. We wander like dry people in the desert places! We sense our need for water, but for so many reasons, we walk past the fountains without stopping for a drink!

Think about what I am saying right now? Scale the depths of your passion, uncage your soul to WORSHIP your Father in heaven. Stop living a life that deprives yourself of this great privilege!

In BC 1446, the people of ancient Israel lived as slaves in Egypt. They were only permitted to worship God within prescribed boundaries. They were oppressed and bitter, without any visible hope of freedom.

Then came Moses!

God said to Moses… “Look! The cry of the people of Israel has reached me, and I have seen how harshly the Egyptians abuse them. Now go, for I am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead my people Israel out of Egypt… (and) when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship [Me] at this very mountain” (Exodus 3:9-10, 12b)

And Moses gave the following messages to Egypt’s Pharaoh:

“This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Let my people go so they may hold a festival in my honor in the wilderness.” (Exodus 5:1)

“Let my people go, so they can worship me in the wilderness.” (Exodus 7:16)

Let my people go, so they can worship me.” (Exodus 8:1)

There seemed to be one thing on God’s mind during those days, one thing he wanted to do for His children. He wanted to FREE THEM TO WORSHIP HIM on the mountain! Again and again, God sent Moses to Pharaoh with the same message…

“Get up early in the morning and stand in Pharaoh’s way as he goes down to the river. Say to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: Let my people go, so they can worship me.'” (Exodus 8:20)”

“But I am warning you, Pharaoh, don’t lie to us again and refuse to let the people go to sacrifice to the Lord.” (Exodus 8:29)

“Tell him, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, so they can worship me.” (Exodus 9:1)

Let my people go, so they can worship me.” (Exodus 9:13)

“This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: How long will you refuse to submit to me? Let my people go, so they can worship me.” (Exodus 10:3)

And finally, after the legendary plagues, Pharaoh’s resolve was BROKEN and…

“Pharaoh sent for Moses and Aaron during the night. ‘Get out!’ he ordered. ‘Leave my people—and take the rest of the Israelites with you! Go and worship the Lord as you have requested.'” (Exodus 12:31)

During this time, when the Israelites were living like this, I can almost imagine them singing the song from todays video. Now, play the video again… UNCAGE YOUR SOUL to worship God, like you know you want to! Stop holding back, let out your true feelings, open the fountains of gratitude and let them gush out today!

I love the chorus in the middle of this video @ 6 minutes and 40 seconds (update: from the original video-not the replacement. There is a similar chorus starting at 5 minutes in this newer version.):

I will raise my voice… I will raise my voice… I will raise my voice… to you…

I will raise my voice… I will raise my voice… I will raise my voice…

I will raise my voice… I will raise my voice… I will raise my voice… to you, to you….

I will lift my hands… I will live my life… to give you glory and honor…

Singer says: Just lift your own song, in your own words… we magnify You, God.

Come on lift your voice, your words, your own song…

We lift you high, We lift you high… in this place Lord… We lift you high…

Come on, stir up your hearts…

We lift you high… We lift high… we glorify…

We lift you high… We lift you high… be glorified…

We lift you high… we lift you high… we lift you high… we lift you high…

Uncage your soul & worship God like you really want to! Take just ten minutes, to play the video and pray to God. Then, watch what happens!!!

  1. I’m sure you’ve already thought of it this, but since worship means ‘to kiss towards’ maybe that is somehow the kiss to wake up sleeping beauty (this generation)?

For some reason those exact thoughts went through my mind the second I picked up the Kent Henry ‘Eyes to read the blueprint’ paper a few mins ago which was hiding with some papers on my filing cabinet at work, I had not seen that paper in several months! It was so cool and so clear 🙂

    Wild!

      • And…looking at MMAL’s table of contents, sitting right beside my divine strategies paper. It really looks like Kent Henry wrote out specific steps we should take upon finishing this book, BEFORE it was ever released. It totally lines up! Too cool:)
