Don’t Give Up . . . Finish The Race!

Happy Wednesday!

These past few years have been way beyond the scope of descriptive words like unbearable, agonizing, excruciating, severe, painfulstrenuous, exhausting, and grueling.

Nevertheless, God’s love has always been felt. His brilliant plan for my life has not been hindered, not even a little bit.

I would not have chosen to ascend on the path of his choosing, and there have been times when I could not see the brightness ahead . . . not until after I was over the finish line!

I think that this is one of those times in my life. I’ve never been more on the brink of victory, and I’ve never been more familiar with unbearable, agonizing, excruciating, severe, painful, strenuous, exhausting, and grueling. Yesterday, I actually cried one time. (I know, what a cry baby, right?! ha)

I only thought I was a busy person in the past. This week, my schedule has escalated to another level of impossibility!

No way, can’t happen, never make it, going to crash, this is it, oh God help me! -Do you understand what this feels like?

I think you do. At least to some degree, everyone has been there.

That’s because It’s always like this at the brink of an unprecedented achievement.

The terrain is steepest, the air is thinnest . . . the wind is gusting most violently at the crest of the mountain.

This is the CREST OF EVEREST for me! The next 8 DAYS are stacked with 100 times more than any 10 people can carry out in 8 WEEKS . . . and then there is Thanksgiving, family time, and Black Friday! It’s really laughable! Unimaginable, unreasonable, unfeasible, unmanageable, and unworkable!

If I can stay focused, maintain my sanity, and keep moving forward for 8 more days, I will slam my flag into the mountain’s crest . . . and I will taste the sweetness of finishing like I’ve never tasted it before. At least that’s what I’m telling myself! LOL, but really it’s true.

This is a secret for achieving the final steps . . . don’t look back, don’t freak out, you’ve come way too far to collapse so close to the finish line! Silence the noises in your mind, so that you can focus on the next step, then the one after that, until you have arrived . . . miraculously at your destination!

“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:12-14 NKJV)

Sadly, there are too many people in today’s world who have never tasted the sweetness of finishing.

There is a graveyard of frozen corpses just below the mountain’s crest . . . but that will not be your final resting place!

Do you have what it takes to take these final steps? YES you do! You’re not alone, I am climbing with you, I am running this race with you! There are others running with us, and others cheering for us. And when we are fully spent, nothing left to give, no way to make it the rest of the way . . . our father pushes through the crowd, and carries us to the finish . . . as long as we don’t give up.

I sincerely prayed for you this morning, that this message would be the fuel you need to finish this race. With much love . . .

  1. Chuck, your message hit home with me today and yes now is the time to work towards the finish line. Since my husband passed two years ago and now my mom a month ago things have been very tough. I know with the strength of God by my side I will make it through the days ahead like I have always. I very much enjoy and look forward to the little lession you share with us all. I hope they move others as it does for me. So thank you for sharing. Wishing you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  2. Oh, we’ve all been there….but, if I look carefully, theres the finishing line! It’s so close, and I am not a quiter!
When staying sane is the last thing you want to do, when it seems like keeling over sounds so good, that is when you need to keep running. That is when you can say ‘I’ve nearly done it’ and you can keep running because you see the end of the road…when you can celebrate and rejoice. Bitterness comes with failing, but I can truly though you feel alright when you have given up, you feel one hundred times better when you pass that line!
I just hope that I can use this journey to help others, because I know I’ve needed people who have gone through it, and someone some day will need me!
It’s people like you who God uses to inspire me to keep running!

  3. Hmmm… “If I can stay focused, maintain my sanity, and keep moving forward…, I will slam my flag into the mountain’s crest . . . and I will taste the sweetness of finishing like I’ve never tasted it before”

Keeping the FOCUS on the finishing line is the Key to success. Thanks for sharing this insights and making it so real.

The Lord is your strength for the next 8days. Don’t give up! (*Its too late to do so*)
