Get Up! Restart Your Faith! Live Again!

I remember a time when I never got sick. Others got sick all around me, but not me. I felt like I was indestructible, and in a way, I was indestructible. I trusted God with everything in my life: my provision, health, mental soundness, my peace, happiness, and potential. I saw my past through His eyes, lived in the present moment, anticipating the future He was creating for me (and creating me for). Whenever I read the Bible, I paid special attention to the promises of God. I believed that those promises were for me, just as much as they were for the people they were spoken through. I used to tell people, “I never get sick, because sickness cannot live on my body!”

Call it coincidence, but I know better. To believe is better than not to believe.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen. (Hebrews 11:1)

Therefore, hope is a (mental/spiritual) picture of things (our God intended future) not yet seen (with our physical eyes).

Without hope, faith has nothing to pursue.

Faith creates the substance of our hopes. Faith is God’s way of transferring miracles from the heavenly world to the physical world.

Call it mystical, but it’s true. Call me fanatical, or disillusioned, but I believe in miracles.

Faith Requires Corresponding Actions

I believe my faith worked so well back then, because I lived according to my beliefs. My actions usually matched my confession. I ate healthy, exercised daily, and stayed balanced… on purpose.

Over the past decade, I’ve drifted out of balance. I’ve grossly underestimated the deadliness of chaos. Still, I felt that I could simply pray harder that my shield of faith would hold up in such conditions.

Faith can move the biggest mountains, faith can heal the sickest people, faith is the substance of things hoped for. With faith anything is possible.

But faith without works (or corresponding actions) is dead (or worthless).

Therefore, all the faith in the universe is no substitute for a lack of corresponding action.

If we pray for health, we have to live and act like healthy people!

For example: It’s ludicrous to pray for an accident free life, while we exceed the speed limits, run red lights, and text while driving. It’s also ludicrous to pray for a cancer free life, while we smoke cigarettes each day. Do you get the picture?

Faith Can Be Choked & Killed

A few days ago, a friend asked me on Facebook how I was doing, because I had been very sick for the previous 7 days. Here was my reply to him…

It’s been like I’ve been asleep for 7 days. [I’m physically broken down.] The emotional battle has been just as numbing.

I think this was more than a bad flu, it was a pre-crash warning from God: to get control of my personal space, organize the chaos, delegate more effectively, say “no” to some things, and REBALANCE.

I mastered balance when I was in business, but so far, I haven’t been able to do that in ministry. I wake up every day like a mouse on a wheel, burning energy without the progress I’m capable of achieving.

Sure, I’ve made a difference, but nothing like the difference I can make if I can find take charge of my schedule… and unapologetically do what GOD is calling me to do with my life and ministry.

It’s not easy, because there are so many voices. Some of them loud, demanding, and intimidating!

Hopefully, this last week has brought me to a new reality about the shortness of life… and how fast it is moving forward… and how easy it is to miss the mark when we fail to take charge with our God-given authority.

Faith Is Restart-able

So many people start out in faith (at some point in their lives) and (through the relentlessness of time and tribulation) they end up pinned under the control of people and circumstances.

But, life doesn’t have to end this way.

Faith is restart-able!

It begins with a prayer,

“Dear God, I don’t know how I ended up here… broken down, bullied around with the trials of life. I’ve become bitter with people, even confused about You and why You would “let” these things happen to me. I’m sorry for becoming like this. Today, I want to restart my faith! I want to believe again, just like I did when I first believed. This is the first day of the rest of my life. Because I refuse to live as a victim of my circumstances any longer. The mountain’s before me are large and daunting. But there is nothing in this universe powerful enough to keep me out of Your will for my life. Nothing except my own inability to believe and keep on believing. Right now, I decide to believe AGAIN! Dear Heavenly Father, I commit again to serve you for the rest of my life… no matter what! When trouble comes my way, I will not fall over and play dead like I have been doing lately, but I will stand on your promises… I will calm the storms, move the mountains, walk on water, and fulfill my destiny! In Jesus name I pray, amen!”

Here is a great video for this message: NeedToBreathe, These Hard Times

Your thoughts?

I just finished praying for you, as I prayed for myself, my family, and my church.

With much love,

Chuck Balsamo

  1. Well, you have just blessed my socks off, ONCE AGAIN!
This is awesome, Chuck. You spoke into my heart… but not just for me, for so many others that I want to share this with as well.
God bless you, Chuck, as you renew, gain strength and carry on!
Hugs, love and many blessings to you!!! 🙂

  2. Terri, it feels so good to imagine how much this message is going to help people today! Thank you for always taking the time to leave a comment! Your enthusiasm inspires others to dig deeper and experience a greater blessing! I’m praying for you this morning Terri! Have a beautiful day!!

  3. I have been praying for you like crazy! I KNOW you will come out of this stronger and healthier than ever!

A few thoughts immediately came to my mind when reading your blog today. First I envisioned my daughters vision actually (Shianne Rankin) She shared a vision she had with me about a year ago. It was her first vision and she really didn’t even realize it was a vision but wow, it was! Here goes…. this is what I thought of reading this……. You are climbing a mountain (as we all are (mountain of life …. mountain of faith… faith builds upon faith (life experiences adds to our faith and it builds. We need to KEEP CLIMBING no matter what. The goal is to reach the TOP (Keeping our eyes on JESUS- HIM being the TOP) with me so far? We can stop (as you said in your blog “you can fall over and play dead” but what happens? You are not moving forward.

Shianne showed me that what she saw is as we climb and move forward , reaching our goal, keeping our eyes on Jesus (vision minded) we are on track our faith is strong but IF we STOP then there is an enemy BEHIND us waiting to drag us down but as long as we keep moving forward that enemy can’t touch us!

What I realized in her vision is we all have past sins even if it was yesterday, We are forgiven people, not perfect. Like your blog title is restart again. Keep your eyes on the goal. Forward focus. Renew your faith. Everyone has a different obsticle to overcome. We ALL are heading the same direction (those of us in Christ) Im not saying your sins are chasing you. I know it may read like that. Im just describing Shi’s vision and how I thought of it with your blog.

Me and Nikki went to hear the man’s testimony who had 10 hours to live and was miraculously healed! His name is Brian Wills. Faith Point had him speak on Sunday. We went Sunday night. Randall said his messages can be downloaded from their webpage if you want to listen. I know you know all about Divine Healing and I am totally on board with you. This man gave told his testimony and gave visual illustrations to demonstrate the verses he was using. Sunday night’s message was based on receiving healing by the highest and best method ONE’s OWN FAITH! He emphasied mainly the first part of Col 2:10 “I am complete in HIM”. It was very good. I need to buy his book, 10 Hours to Live.

Excellent blog today as usually! We love you and are praying and believing you will totally be better today! We miss you too!!

    • It’s amazing how fast God will move in and change everything, when we posture up in faith. The enemy can never defeat us as long as we don’t defeat ourselves. Shianne’s vision is powerful… your whole message is on fire! I’m very happy about the man who was healed and the messages he gave to our community. God is capable of so much more than we have believed Him for. Our future is waiting for us to rise in FAITH… this can be our greatest year. 🙂

  4. Chuck ,

How AWSOME it is to hear this message and apply this prayer to myself and hold it up to my family !!!!! So many times ive let circumstances try to control me also I mean after awhile they can get overwhelming and us being humans as we are LET OUR GUARDS DOWN LITTLE BY LITTLE without even noticing it but isnt that how our enemy does it hes a master at trickery and deciet !!!BUT GOD HE always brings us back to his path and his ways again !! He knows just the right times and ways to get our attention so as we dont drift very far from his LOVING KINDNESS,GRACE AND MERCY !!!! WOW how SWEET it is to see how our FATHER keeps us in his LOVING CARE HE knows just what to do !!!!!! AWSOME blog today IM GONA MAKE THIS THE DAY I RETURN TO MY FIRST LOVE ALSO AND SURRENDER ONCE AGAIN MY ALL AND EVERYTHING TO MY GRACIOUS GOD WHOM I CAN TRUST IF I KEEP MY EYES FOCUSED ON THAT WONDERFUL CROSS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS WORD IT SPEAKS TO MY HEART AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME !!!!

  5. Wow, I feel like we are going through the same things at the same time. I swear it’s like you are writing my message. I guess it shows that the devil is not very creative. He hits us with the same old things. Thanks for being humble to share your struggles. Bless you:)

    • Amanda, so powerful to know that others are rising in the exact same moment that I am! They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not faint! This is a season of renewal for many people! 🙂

  6. The dyes been cast, I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone, the decisions been make. I am a Winner!
I won’t let up, look back, or back away. My past is forgotten, my present is focused, my future is secure.
I’m done and finished with limp living, side walking, cheap excuses, and dwarf goals.
I no long need preeminence, position, promotion, promises, or popularity.
I don’t have to be first, I don’t have to be right, I don’t have to be recognized,
I don’t have to be praised, regarded, or rewarded.
I’ve died to the selfcentered, egodriven, limp lifestyle.
I live by faith, learn by submitting, labor by love, lead by example, lift by prayer.
My Dream is developed, my decision definite, my desire determined, my discipline dedicated, my devotion distinct.
My pace is set, my pace is fast, my way is narrow, my way is tough.
My companions are strong, my counselor is reliable, my purpose is pure, my mission is clear.
I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, or loured away, turned back, diluted, delayed, or denied.
I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate at the presence of the advisory, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity,
I won’t give up, shut up, or let up.
Until I’ve stirred up, stayed up, prayed up, and paid up, for the cause of Freedom.
I must fight when others faint, go when others won’t, give till I drop, teach till all know, and work until the task is finished.
And when I lay exhausted on the battlefield of dreamers, God will have no problem recoginizing me, as a man who gave it all.

  7. Amen! Pastor such an awsome word! Right where I am ! I to used to be indestructable at least thats how I felt! Been so weak in my faith for sometime now allowing clutter in little bits at a time! This message has got my attention !No more! My Armor is on ! Im fighting this war with the armor of God! Im reaching in and pulling my faith out and moving forward and Im believing for healing for you and for me! No more Ive got goals and things I need to accomplish in 2012! So thank you for helping get my dukes up and start believing again!

    • Theresa, you’re openness blesses me today. It shows that you are definitely on the rise… as an individual and as a family, the Moore’s will see their finest days! 🙂

  8. Every now and then we have an eye opening experience because of something that happens or what someone says. I call it the mirror experience. It happens before our eyes, either the incident or the unraveling, domino effects thereof. Either way, the mirror experience or the rear view mirror experience (“objects may appear larger than what they really are”) are all of what God emphasizes in scripture like in Ecclesiastes 3, Exodus 20, Jeremiah 1 and 18, Psalms 1, and James.

  9. Why do we reject the teachings of Jesus for the superstitions, traditions and teachings of men? Are those old superstitious traditions bringing us happiness and peace of mind? Why do we continue to pay lip service to things we do not do ourselves? Is it we cannot understand because our souls have hardened our minds with these traditions of men?

As Jesus says in Matthew 7:24-26, Who knows my teachings and Does Them, is a wise man. Who knows my teachings and does them not is a foolish man. If you hear these words and do them, the Father will come unto you and dwell in you and teach you all things; bringing all things to your REMEMBERANCE.

Matthew 7:24 “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.
    Isaiah 40:31
Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

  10. Sitting here reading some of your older posts, can’t sleep, have been dealing with Physical Illness since Feb and doors are opening faster than I can go through them it seems, and the mountains are looking higher than I feel I can climb. This was the miracle boost that I needed. Can’t believe I was directed to this post. I guess sometimes re-starts are necessary to change the outcome of the race.

    • Wow, I just re-read this post too. I can’t believe how relevant it is for your current situation. It’s like I wrote it FOUR YEARS AGO for you today. I pray that you will move beyond the sickness to live a long healthy and happy life!
