No Probation, Condemnation, or Grudges!

God is not like unforgiving, bitter, angry people. He never says no to a humble cry for mercy.

Psalm 30:5 is such a powerful verse in the Bible…

For His [God’s] anger lasts only a short time. But His favor is for life. Crying may last for a night, but joy comes with the new day.

His anger lasts only a short time? This is a beautiful thing to know about God.

It means that…

God doesn’t punish people with probation! He doesn’t purge them with condemnation.

God doesn’t hold grudges.

God will never banish you to the dungeons… so you can think about what you’ve done (forever and ever), or pay for every last drop of pain you have caused other people.

God is patient and optimistic about what you can become. He loves you furiously, long before you are truly lovable. It is impossible to fully comprehend.

Mercy triumphs over judgment (James 2:13).

God’s mercy gives you a second chance. His mercy reaches out to the most undeserving people in the universe.

At one time all of us lived to please our old selves. We gave in to what our bodies and minds wanted. We were sinful from birth like all other people and would suffer from the anger of God. But God had so much loving-kindness. He loved us with such a great love.  Even when we were dead because of our sins, He made us alive by what Christ did for us. You have been saved from the punishment of sin by His loving-favor. (Ephesians 2:3-5 NLV)

Please mediate on these verses, read them a few more times, until a light bulb turns on.

I don’t know who I’m writing to this morning. These thoughts are flooding my heart! I feel like I am saving someones LIFE from a paralyzing depression.

If you’ve made big mistakes in life, decide to move on from them. Drop to your knees and pray to God. Sincerely apologize for everything you’ve ever done wrong. Then, believe in the verses above from Ephesians 2:3-5. And remember that God’s anger lasts only a short time. But His favor is for life. Crying may last for the night, but joy comes with the new day.

Focus on God’s mercy, not on the guilt you still feel from yesterday.

Now, you are completely forgiven, and there is HOPE. This is your new day. (smile)

Here is a great song for this message: My Next Breath, by Eddie Kirkland.

Have a beautiful day!

  1. Thank GOD He doesn’t banish us to the dungeons, or I’d be living there forever… SO thankful for His mercy and grace, and also so thankful for you, Chuck. God bless you!!!!!!

  2. I thank God everyday that he doesn’t hold my past against me. many Christians over the years have held my past against me but that is a whole another story. lol I am also grateful that God is not like some of these religions where you have to do more good in your life than bad to get to Heaven. If that were true, I am not sure if I could do so much good to overpower my past. I have a very shady past with 19 years of addictions so oneday we will tell that story and some of the people who know me will be like whoa. Granted I have heard worse stories than mine but mine is up there as I didn’t care about the world at all for many years.

December 26, I will be sober for 5 years and WOW has that been awesome. God took the desire completely away from me to drink or take any kind of drug. It still amazes me how far I have come but I also know that without God I would not be here and also without my awesome wife who God used in order to change my life, I would not be here.

I am just so grateful to God and my wife for everything and now with an 8 month old Lil Boy, I can be the kind of dad I could never have been just a few short years ago.

    • Chris, I didn’t know this about your past. Thank you so much sharing it here on the blog! My story is similar, just a little older than yours. lol

So amazed at how God utterly transforms people… like no other force in this universe. One of the greatest evidences of G O D are the millions of stories like yours and mine. I feel so grateful at the moment, thinking bad to the day He lifted me out of the gutter and gave me a new life.

      God bless you friend.

  3. It always touched me everytime im reminded of God’s love for a human like me (like us); The Parable of the prodigal son has perfectly describing the Heart of the Father and the heart of the sons – and the amazing thing that the Father didnt care about what the oldest son HAS DONE in the house – and guess what: the Father also didnt care about what the youngest son HAS DONE outside the house. While people look and judge our “doing” based on what is right and wrong – but God the Father is simply wants for us to be with Him it cost Him His life. Everything in me still dont get it about this love i called “crazy love” – One person said to me on my early christian life long time ago … that i should be afraid of His love than His anger – because His love is the craziest thing; It will never let you go – It will always find you – and It’s always there for you no matter what. *nowadays i know its true and im lost in His love everytime i try to figure out this kind of love*

I believe this blog is somehow breaking the intimidation within you (who ever you are) – Word of God in this blog is truly the truth that sets you free today. God loves you with this i called “crazy love” – yes its crazy and we wont / couldnt / dont need to understand – just simply receive His love – embrace His love and FLY AGAIN! His love is for me, for you .. *it last a lifetime – its crazy*

    • Fly Again… I love that Esslythe. How are you doing in Indonesia these days? Sure do miss chatting with you. Still praying for you and Brian… and your families and the people of your church. God bless you all.

    • Elaine, to think that God has used me to encourage you this morning… make me smile! I’ve been praying for you guys so often these days, remembering all of the good times we’ve shared together throughout the years.
