Yesterday, President Barak Obama was re-elected for another 4 year team. Congratulations to our President and to all of his supporters! As with every election, some people are elated and others are depressed. I personally voted for Mitt Romney, but now we have an election and it is my spiritual responsibility to honor my president and pray for him. That I will do for another 4 years, with God’s grace.
Yesterday, I posted a message on Facebook…
To my fellow Christians… I will vote for one candidate and you might vote for another, but in the end, we are tied together by something bigger than our american citizenship. Aren’t we?? None of the men or woman on todays ballots have died on a cross in your place, to save you from your sins. Let us not forget this today. Pray before you leave the house… that God will use our election process to have His way in our nation. When we all pray to the same God and then we vote, GOD CAN INSPIRE PEOPLE… and when all of the votes are collected, He can still give us His choice for this election! I believe this, I pray for this… and I cannot wait to see it happen.
Last night, I watched live as President Obama was declared the winner. In my heart, I thought, “Dear God, how can you let this happen to us? Where were you today? There is no way this is your plan for our nation.” And my heart tightened up with the pains of hopelessness and despair.
Then I went to Facebook, and I nearly cried as I witnessed word wars between good Christian people, lashing out at each other to the death of close friendships and church affiliation.
And these words came to me…
Lay Down Your Swords & Trust Me! -God
As Jesus was being arrested from the Garden of Gethsemane, his disciples could not comprehend God’s plan for that hour. They lashed out in fear and anger, just like most people do in moments of confusion and apparent defeat.
And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus [Simon Peter] stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. But Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?”
In other words, Jesus was saying to Peter, “Stop fighting so hard to have your way! Stop feeling so angry and depressed because things don’t seem to be working out for us. I have a plan to save the world, Peter. Lay down your sword and trust me!”
God does not live in the tiny box we think He lives in!
God is bigger than the President, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. He is bigger than democrats, republicans, and independents. God is bigger than Colorado legalizing marijuana and Maryland and Maine legalizing gay marriage. God is not dead. God is not incapable of leading us to victory. He is a GOD who makes a WAY where there SEEMS TO BE NO WAY!
I personally believe (this is just my opinion) that America is going in the wrong direction governmentally, economically, morally, and spiritually. But even if Mitt Romney had been elected, he did not have all of the answers. Mitt Romney is not God, neither is Barak Obama, neither was Ron Paul (lol). I have to believe that God has a plan for President Obama!
From my vantage point, there are two things I wish for America.
ONE: That we unite our political parties, break the antagonism, create synergy… focus on solutions and achieve them!
My greatest hope for Mitt Romney winning the election was not that he had all of the answers, but that he might be able to achieve bipartisanship. We need a leader who will gather every democrat and republican into one room and find a way to AGREE on something, and then on something else, until we shift… out of antagonism and into synergy!
Bipartisanship is possible when everyone in the room elevates the good of their nation above their desire for re-election. Bipartisanship has a chance when everyone in the room cares not about which party receives the credit or the blame. Bipartisanship can happen if everyone in the room collides in humility, mutual respect, and a common obsession for the better tomorrow.
It’s a long shot, but a worthwhile dream!
TWO: That we unite the Christian churches… and love and heal and help our broken world.
We can’t help anyone if we fall into depression and hatred and we become divided against those who disagree with us. We must find a way to focus our eyes on God and UNITE around our great cause, right away.
I still believe that Jesus is the hope of mankind. Surely, we are a nation with religious freedom. I have no problem with a separation of church and state. I’m not suggesting forced religion. Just that all Christians stand up tall in a society that so obviously needs us! Jesus said, “You are a city on a mountain, shining in the night!” May the churches rise today! May we bring about a revival of religion in America! Now is the time for this.

There is so much more I’d like to say, but this message is already way too long. I’m praying for America, with great hope for our future! I trust God to make a way where there seems to be no way.
With much love…
