Hillary Rosen vs. Ann Romney?
Have you heard about it?
From FoxNews today: Democratic strategist and CNN contributor Hilary Rosen apologized Thursday to Ann Romney, wife of presumptive GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, for criticizing her choice to be a stay-at-home mother… but not before sparking a political firestorm with her remarks.
Rosen made her comments Wednesday on CNN at 8:52 p.m. ET , suggesting Romney was the wrong person on husband Mitt Romney’s GOP presidential primary campaign to be addressing women’s issues — considering “she’s never worked a day it her life.”
This conversation has gone VIRAL, now generating 1300 tweets an hour!
Think before you speak, Hillary. But then, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
Sadly, Hillary Rosen represents the beliefs of too many 21st century Americans.
From Fox News today: Ann Romney made her debut on Twitter at 10:18 p.m., saying, “I made a choice to stay home and raise five boys. Believe me, it was hard work.”
Even though I haven’t bought in to the Romney dream, I strongly applaud Ann Romney for making that choice in her life.

Stay at home moms are on the same level with DOCTORS, LAWYERS, and BUSINESS LEADERS.
Raising GREAT children is the GREATEST occupation! By far, it is!

While on the topic of earning your keep, I have to mention what I believe is the most indispensable category of human productivity—though their profession has never been listed in the annual US News and World Report list of best careers. I’m talking about the power of the domestic engineer, more commonly referred to as the dedicated Mom.
Solid research by Salary.com showed that in 2006 a stay-at-home mom needed $134,121 per year to be adequately compensated for her multiple roles and her 91.6 hours of weekly toil. The mom who works outside the home is given an estimated value of $85,876 for her 49.8 hours of mom-work per week.
And how much does Mom make? Nothing! Not a big deal, because Mom doesn’t work for dollars; she does what she does for the personal satisfaction of seeing things go well for the people she loves. Without applause or other appropriate acknowledgment of achievement, Mom chooses to work her wonders in the shadows of the visible triumphs of her husband and her little ones!
Over the years, I have heard many moms say how increasingly insignificant they feel in this career-driven era. Many live confused and discouraged about their purpose and their future. I bring this up because I feel a great deal of compassion for the remarkable workers of this under celebrated profession. We should validate their significance in this modern world.
This is how God feels about moms: “She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness. …Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise” (Prov. 31:27,31).
To all the great moms out there, I say, Thank you! Even though you may not have the achievement trophies to prove it, you are the legend behind the legends! Don’t allow society to make you feel insignificant or underproductive. You are earning your keep—and so much more!
