Good Saturday Everyone!

You guys enjoying the DEEP FREEZE? As you can tell… the Balsamo’s are lovin it! Ice formations are so amazing! These photos were taken yesterday from my backyard… thought I’d share some of this beauty with my pals… hope you enjoy! :)  

I guess my message for today is this: There is beauty in every season… be very careful not to miss it!

That reminds me of tomorrow morning at Destiny Family Center. I’m going to be contrasting BRIGHT LIGHT with GROSS DARKNESS… calling for the BEAUTIFULL FORMATIONS of God to form on the frigid backdrop of a deeply wintry civilization.

Matthew 5:14-16 MSG “Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand-shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”

The first week of the New Year has finally arrived! This is it… full engines ahead! All plans activated! Clean out your refrigerators, throw away your cigarettes, join the gym, get in your first workout, pick up your bible and read a few chapters, have a meaningful prayer time, experience something new, do something compassionate… be kinder and far more patient with yourself and others. Remember, it’s a New Year and you are a NEW PERSON with NEW AND EXCITING RESOLUTIONS!

Today, I’m giving you guys a great tool for successful living. So much of our greatness has to do with our EYES. Whatever we focus on and monitor grows. We become what we think about all the time. And if we can seize control of our eye gates, then things will go so much better for us.

Jesus said it like this, “Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light. But when it is bad, your body is filled with darkness. Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness. If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light.”

As one of your first great actions of 2009, make a covenant with your eyes! Job 31:1 talks about the covenant he made with his eyes… not to look on a woman with lust. There are many destructive things entering human souls through unbridled eyes. Good eyes certainly make the difference!

According to this teaching, the human eye is a GATEWAY INTO THE SOUL. When we control this gate, only allowing LIGHT to ENTER… when we aggressively BLOCK OUT THE DARK… it is then that our WHOLE LIVES WILL BE RADIENT… AS THOUGH A FLOODLIGHT WERE FILLING IT WITH LIGHT!

This morning, I read a few very amazing things in the book of Psalms. Check out Psalm 88 when you get a sec… and think of it being written by a person in hell. Even though it doesn’t talk about the flames… it clearly describes “hopelessness” and “the lowest pit… the darkest depths” and a “trap with no way of escape…” and it ends with “ONLY DARKNESS REMAINS.” Read it if you have the time. (psalm 88) I titled it, “The Psalm From Hell!”

So, here are my two profound thoughts about hell for you guys today: “Don’t go there!” and “No matter what you’re struggling through these days… it sure beats hell!”   

As long as you are still alive, God still has a PLAN for you! Even though it might not seem like it at times, your life is filled with opportunity every single day! So make this day great… and I will chat with you tomorrow morning!
