Happy Tuesday Bloggers!
Good news… the comments section of this blog site has been FIXED! Thank you Jonathan and Ben… you guys should hack for the government!
Yesterday… I relaxed for a few hours and watched one of the most inspirational movies I’ve seen in a while… The Great Debaters! It’s a must see… so get it fast and put it into your hearts. My heart was broken as the reality of lingering prejudice in this country swept over my soul. Realizing that the true events of this film happened only a few generations ago… it broke my heart and churned my stomach into knots! It caused me to consider what it must have taken for the great grandparents of MY African American friends just to be able to sit on a public bench!
I long for the day… that there are not so many white churches and black churches… that glorious day when race is absolutely not an issue… and all of God’s people worship gloriously under one harmonious roof. Yes, we have made such great strides over the past hundred years… but we still have a long way to go in some parts of this country. I hate racism… it sickens me to consider the arrogance of so many fellow Americans. I pray to God… that we would win the victory over this root of hatred once and for all. I pray especially for my fellow southerners… for the citizens of my community and state. Heal our land and unify our people, oh God!
If you’re wondering why I’ve written so much about this subject today… watch the movie!
My day was pretty stressful overall… I spent quite a bit of my hours resisting the temptation to feel overwhelmed… ended up on the floor of my office at about 4pm praying for strength… and GOT IT! Sometimes, we just have to PRAY THROUGH to victory… at least that’s what the old timers say! I thank God for this skill of being able to PRAY THROUGH. Without it, I would have been out of the race a long long time ago. The prayer time was beautiful… I tuned into the Misty Edwards channel on Pandora Radio… it was perfect. I wrote some pretty amazing things in my journal… and felt the BURDEN LIFT. What a feeling that is every time it happens!
I got home and found my kids working their tails off in our sunroom digging out the crawl space with shovels and pick axes. A LONG STORY that I’m not telling. Emily made a fun dinner on her new “Panini” maker… she made us mini burgers… she was smiling ear to ear.
Before bed, I laid in bed with Heaven and Emily, chatting about when Heaven was little and she slept with us almost every night… the memories brought a tear to my eyes… how fast time passes. After that, I went upstairs and listened to Coree play guitar. He’s into instruments these days… teaching himself to play drums, bass, and guitar… and doing really well! Life is good… I thank God for the lessons and experiences that are found in living each day, when we just take the time to pay attention.
Hope you guys have the best Tuesday ever! Chat with you later…
